AFFIDAVIT: Tyler mother says ‘she forgot' infant in car during appointment
TYLER, Texas (KETK)– A mother was arrested Wednesday afternoon after she left her six-week-old baby in a hot car during her eye appointment in Tyler.

According to the Tyler Police Department, around 11:45 a.m., officers responded to Stanton Optical on S. Broadway Avenue, where a six-week-old child had been left in a car that was not running by her mother, 22-year-old Adasia Henderson of Tyler.
A Smith County arrest affidavit said that deputies talked with a Stanton Optical employee who said Henderson had been in the store from 10:30 a.m., finished an eye exam at 11:30 a.m. when she realized she had left her child in her car.
'[The employee] advised Henderson went to the vehicle and recovered the child at around 11:40 a.m.,' the documents said. 'The child had been in the vehicle for up to one hour and 15 minutes. [The employee] indicated the child looked to be in severe distress, and she called 911.'
The affidavit said the temperature outside was around 90 degrees or more at the time of the incident, and the temperature would have been 'considerably higher.' Deputies found Henderson sitting in the passenger seat holding the baby, who appeared 'pale and chalky.'
'Henderson indicated she had forgotten her infant in the vehicle while she was inThe Stanton Optical store and that the car was not running during that time,' the document said. 'Henderson abandoned her six-week-old infant in an automobile with no air conditioning, endangering the child and exposing the child to the risk of severe injury or death.'

The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment and observation while Henderson was arrested for abandoning/endangering a child.
