Pakistani claims of Indian base destruction are completely false, says Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri
By Aditya Bhagchandani Published on May 10, 2025, 11:13 IST In a sharp rebuttal to a barrage of misinformation, India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday morning dismissed Pakistan's claims about targeting and destroying Indian military installations and critical infrastructure as entirely false and fabricated. Speaking during the fourth official press briefing since the launch of Operation Sindoor, Misri stated, 'Seen Pakistani claims about activities that they have undertaken, continue to be heavy on lies, misinformation, and propaganda. And on top of that, this is pedalled by Pakistani state agencies.' He categorically refuted claims made by the Pakistan Army regarding alleged strikes on key Indian Air Force stations, including those in Sirsa, Surangat, and the S-400 base at Adampur, calling them 'completely false' . He further added that no damage has occurred to any Indian military airbase or air defence installation. Pakistan's claims about hitting critical infrastructure — including India's power grids, cyber systems, and missile bases — were also dismissed as a 'tissue of lies' manufactured by the Pakistani state for 'obvious purposes.' 'I urge all viewers not to be misled by these outrageous and baseless statements,' Misri said firmly. Beyond these falsified military claims, Misri highlighted Pakistan's continued campaign of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, especially in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. He cited the shelling of Rajouri, where the Additional District Development Commissioner, Rajkumar Thapa, was killed. He also mentioned that damage and injuries were reported overnight in Firozpur and Jalandhar, pointing to a disturbing trend of Pakistan targeting civilian areas. Responding to Pakistan's bizarre claim that India had fired missiles near Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar, Misri reiterated that these were lame attempts to sow communal discord in India — attempts that are 'doomed to fail.' In a firm reminder of India's democratic ethos, Misri added, 'Pakistan Army's spokesperson seems amused that Indian citizens are criticising their own government. That's democracy in action — something Pakistan clearly doesn't understand.' Concluding his remarks, Misri rubbished yet another claim — that India had fired missiles into Afghanistan — calling it 'a ludicrous and totally frivolous allegation.' 'The Afghan people don't need reminding of who has actually targeted civilian populations in Afghanistan in the last year and a half,' he added, alluding to Pakistan's past actions in the region. As tensions continue to evolve following India's Operation Sindoor and Pakistan's failed attempts at retaliation, Misri emphasized that India remains committed to defending its sovereignty, while urging the global community and citizens to stay informed through official and verified updates only Aditya Bhagchandani serves as the Senior Editor and Writer at Business Upturn, where he leads coverage across the Business, Finance, Corporate, and Stock Market segments.
