Neshannock softball wins third state title in four years
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WKBN) – The Neshannock Softball team topped South Williamsport 8-3 in the PIAA Class 2A State Championship on Thursday morning at Beard Field at Nittany Lions Softball Park at Penn State University.
With the win, the Lancers finish the season a perfect 26-0 for the second consecutive season. Neshannock now owns three perfect seasons in the last four years.
Pitcher Addy Frye allowed just one earned run on seven hits with 13 strikeouts for Neshannock. She also came up big at the plate with a solo home run.
Gabby Quinn finished the day 2-4 with a double and four RBIs in the victory. Second-baseman Brenna Frengel went 2-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.
South Williamsport ends the season with a record of 18-6.
