Who Killed Kamal Kaur Bhabhi? Influencer's Murder Tied To ‘Moral Policing'

Last Updated: Two men, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, have been arrested for the alleged murder of Kanchan Kumari aka Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. The shocking death of Punjabi influencer Kanchan Kumari, also known as Kamal Kaur, has sent shockwaves across the country, prompting authorities to investigate multiple angles in the case. The Bathinda Police have arrested two men, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, in connection with her murder. Reports indicate that both accused are believed to be members of the 'Nihang" sect, a warrior order in Sikhism known for their distinct blue robes, traditional weaponry and elaborately adorned turbans. Speaking on the same, Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal shared that the accused were not in their traditional outfits when they allegedly committed the murder. Also, a third accused, Amritpal Singh Mehron, is still said to be on the run. 'The key conspirator, Amritpal Singh, had previously cautioned her to stop posting 'vulgar' videos and had planned to teach her a lesson. He, along with others, hatched a conspiracy, and they strangled her to death at an isolated location on Tuesday," he told the media. Kamal Kaur's Murder Plan As per the police, Amritpal Singh Mehron had spoken to Kamal Kaur a few days before the murder, asking her to come to Bhatinda for a paid promotional event. He visited her the next day and eventually convinced her of the plan. On June 9, the two had another conversation, and she agreed. She had left home on the same day with Jaspreet and Nimratjit, and at 11 PM, Kaur's mother lost all connection with her. A few hours later, she was killed in her own car. The police revealed that Kaur was strangled with a waistband inside the car. SSP Kondal informed that the murder likely took place during the night of June 9-10. A case of murder and destruction of evidence has been registered against all three. They also stated that both Amritpal and Nimratjit were previously booked in a similar moral policing case at the Dhanuala Police Station in Barnala in 2021. Kamal Kaur's Dead Body Discovered On Wednesday night, Kamal Kaur's body was found inside a parked car near the Adesh Medical University in Bhatinda, Punjab. Well-known for creating social media content and for her bold stance that challenged conservative social norms, Kaur had lakhs of followers on Instagram. Locals initially reported a foul smell coming from a car parked in the university's parking lot and informed the police. Upon arrival, the vehicle was searched, and they found the body of a woman aged 30 to 35 years. The police suspected that Kaur might have been killed elsewhere and then moved into the car. Her body was sent for postmortem, while a murder case was registered.

Social media influencer killed in ‘moral policing' attack, say Punjab Police

Bathinda: Social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, known as Kamal Kaur 'Bhabhi', was murdered in what police described as an act of "moral policing" and arrested two suspects and are searching for the alleged mastermind. The body of the 25-year-old popular Instagram personality with 3.83 lakh followers was found in a car parked outside Adesh Medical University here late Wednesday night. Superintendent of police (SSP) Amneet Kondal said Amritpal Singh of Mehron village in Moga district conspired to kill her, angered by her alleged vulgar and obscene online content. Mehron, who had previously warned the influencer, approached her on June 7 and 8 at her Ludhiana home, ostensibly to promote a video related to cars. On June 9, Mehron dispatched associates Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh in a SUV to bring Kamal Kaur to Bathinda. She travelled in her own Hyundai Eon, trailed by the suspects. Near Bathinda, the group stopped at a car workshop. Police said Jaspreet and Nimratjit confronted Kamal Kaur, demanding she stop uploading "vulgar videos" and using "Kaur" with her name. Subsequently, the two men joined Kamal Kaur in her car. It was then that Jaspreet Singh allegedly strangled her with a piece of cloth, leaving her body on the rear seat, according to the SSP. The car was later parked in the Adesh University car park. Kamal Kaur was unmarried and lived with her two sisters, two brothers and mother after the death of her father one-and-a-half years ago. The SSP confirmed that Kamal Kaur was killed on the night of June 9-10. Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh were arrested late Thursday. Police are on the hunt for Amritpal Singh Mehron, who remains at large. A case of murder and destruction of evidence was registered against the three. Police said Amritpal Singh and Nimratjit Singh were previously involved in a 2021 "moral policing" case in Barnala district. BOX Man who ordered the hit contested polls, against 'obscene content' Amritpal Singh from Mehron village in Moga district faces a murder charge as a conspirator in the Kamal Kaur case. He also has two criminal cases at Dhanaula police station in Barnala district, one for threatening a producer accused of "obscene songs" in 2021 and another in Amritsar for allegedly vandalising folk dancer statues near the Golden Temple in 2020. Mehron unsuccessfully contested the 2022 assembly elections as an SAD (Amritsar) candidate from the Tarn Taran constituency. His 2022 election affidavit stated he completed a diploma in diesel mechanics from ITI, Moga, in 2014 after Class XII (non-medical) from DM College Moga, and worked as a diesel mechanic. Mehron leads a self-styled organisation, 'Qaum De Rakhe', and has recently targeted social media influencers posting "obscene content". He had previously threatened both Kamal Kaur and Deepika Luthra over their content, also warning Kamal against using "Kaur" with her name. Who Was Kamal Kaur, Punjabi Influencer Found Dead In Parked Car In Punjab

Social media influencer Kamal Kaur was found dead in the back seat of a car parked at Adesh Medical University, Punjab, late Wednesday night. The vehicle, registered in Ludhiana, had been stationary in the parking lot for days. A foul smell coming from the car led to a complaint, following which police reached the spot and made the grim discovery. "We found a woman's body in the back seat. She was later identified as Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur, aged around 30, a resident of Ludhiana," said Bathinda SP Narendra Singh. Police said Kamal Kaur had informed her family on June 9 that she was travelling to Bathinda for a promotional gig. Since then, she hadn't been in touch. Authorities are now probing the circumstances surrounding her death. Who Was Kamal Kaur? Kamal Kaur, whose real name was Kanchan Kumari, was a digital creator and Punjabi actress based in Chandigarh. Originally from Ludhiana, Punjab, she was believed to be in her mid-30s. She studied at Panjab University and lived in Chandigarh at the time of her death. She was a content creator on YouTube and was widely followed on Instagram, where she had over 3.85 lakh followers. Ms Kaur was known for her funny videos and bold online persona, though she had often faced criticism for using foul language in her content. Her last social media post, uploaded before her disappearance on June 9, carried a cryptic caption: "No emotion, no love, no f**k. Only doubt doubt doubt is left." Last year, Ms Kaur received death threats from Canada-based gangster and designated terrorist Arshdeep Singh Gill, alias Arsh Dalla, for allegedly posting "inappropriate" content and using foul language. "This is ruining the image of our community. Punjab's youth are being spoiled. If one person dies because of this, no one will care," he was heard saying in an October 2024 audio clip reported by News18 Punjab. He accused Ms Kaur of "spreading filth" on social media and threatened to harm her family if she did not take down her videos. Arsh Dalla is a known aide of slain Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar and has been linked to terror activities in India.
