Dalgety Bay Starbucks drive-thru plans approved

Plans for two-drive thru restaurants, including a Starbucks, have been approved for Dalgety Bay. The American coffee giant will open in a vacant site at Hillend Industrial Estate, off Ridge Way. Developers are still in talks with companies over who will occupy the second building. However, it will likely be another fast food-style restaurant. The application was made by the Adil Group, which operates dozens of KFCs, Burger Kings, Costa Coffees and Taco Bells across the UK. Adil describes itself as 'growth-hungry' and has acquired the rights to develop the Taco Bell brand throughout Scotland. It says opening at the Dalgety Bay site will improve the choice of leisure facilities for residents. And it could bring up to 50 jobs. The two drive-thrus will occupy undeveloped ground in the partially-completed development known as The Gateway. It is close to Dalgety Bay Asda, as well as Subway, Domino's and Greggs. The Starbucks building is set to measure more than 2,000 square feet, with the second restaurant next door, even bigger. Adil describes the one-storey buildings as being of a modern design. And it says they will complement existing businesses. Fife Council planning officer Lauren McNeil said some concerns were expressed about the principle of the development. In particular, people were worried about over-provision and the potential impact on businesses. Extra traffic and road safety were also raised as concerns. However, Ms McNeil believes the development will not have a significant impact.

YouTuber denied bail by court

An additional sessions court of Lahore on Wednesday dismissed the pre-arrest bail application of Haseeb Sajjad Khan, host of a YouTube channel, in a case involving allegations of cyber defamation and harassment. The case, registered at the FIA Cyber Crime Wing, Lahore, stems from a controversial interview Khan conducted with co-accused Dr Omar Adil. During the interview, Adil allegedly made derogatory remarks against the complainant, Ayesha Chaudhry. The interview, later uploaded to Khan's channel, gained widespread attention online, prompting Chaudhry to lodge a complaint under Sections 21 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 - pertaining to cyber defamation - as well as Sections 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) and 109 (abetment) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Khan's counsel, Advocate Zain Qureshi, argued that his client merely facilitated the interview and openly criticised Adil's offensive remarks, claiming that Khan bore no direct responsibility for the defamatory content. However, Judge Muhammad Suleman Ghumman ruled that Khan, by choosing to upload and promote the video, played a role in disseminating the content.

Good Morning Britain star ‘facing the axe' in ITV bloodbath after controversy

ITV's daytime restructure is triggering major changes across its flagship shows, with presenter Adil Ray reportedly facing removal from Good Morning Britain ITV is undergoing a major shake-up, and it looks like Good Morning Britain could be losing one of its familiar faces in the process. Adil Ray, who frequently appears as a guest presenter on the breakfast show, is believed to be among those affected by ITV's latest cost-cutting drive,. Although the show's airtime remains untouched for now, its presenter roster appears to be on shakier ground. ITV has already made substantial cuts to its daytime line-up, with shows like Lorraine and Loose Women taking significant hits. While GMB has been spared in terms of duration, it seems not all of its team members will be as fortunate. ‌ Adil, 51, known for co-hosting during school holidays alongside Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins may soon be stepping away, according to reports from Mail Online. ‌ Over the past year, Ray has also regularly appeared on Fridays next to Kate Garraway following Ben Shepherd's exit from the programme. Sources claim that ITV executives met this past Wednesday to outline upcoming changes, with Adil's potential departure reportedly on the agenda. Ray's time on GMB hasn't been without turbulence. Earlier this year, he sparked backlash after viewers accused him of "fat-shaming" darts star Luke Littler, prompting some to threaten complaints to Ofcom. Meanwhile, Lorraine and Loose Women are facing even harsher cuts. Starting January, both will be on air for just 30 weeks out of the year. In another blow, Lorraine Kelly's programme will lose half an hour from its runtime, as Good Morning Britain extends to a 9:30am finish. The major changes have left talent across ITV's daytime schedule feeling anxious. "Everyone was completely blindsided, it was a total shock and people are feeling very deflated because nobody saw this coming – viewing figures are actually up for Lorraine and Loose Women has been scooping awards recently," an insider told The Sun. ‌ Another source described the emotional toll the announcements have taken: "Staff are really panicking about their jobs – many have worked at daytime for decades and are completely heartbroken. There's now a scramble for who will wait for a payout and who wants to stay." In total, around 220 roles are expected to be cut, slashing the workforce behind GMB, Lorraine, Loose Women, and This Morning by nearly half. Though much of the downsizing will hit production and off-screen personnel, it's clear that some presenters are already exploring other options as uncertainty looms. The Mirror has approached and ITV spokesperson for comment on this story.

Cutbacks at ITV have seen fellow daytime programmes Lorraine and Loose Women slashed and while GMB's run time has not been affected, it appears that some of its hosts, including Adil, face uncertain futures. Adil has long been a stand-in host on the programme and regularly fronts the summer holidays alongside Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins, both of whom have been with the show since its beginning. Moreover, over the past 12 months, Adil has been a rotating Friday host with Kate Garraway following Ben Shepherd's show departure. Insiders told the Mail that ITV execs held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the drastic changes where Adil's axing was understood to have been discussed. The Sun has contacted ITV for comment. His time on air has not been without its controversy, with Adil finding himself making headlines whilst on the show. Earlier this year, viewers vowed to call Ofcom after they accused Adil of 'fat-shaming' darts legend, Luke Littler. Lorraine and Loose Women are the biggest victims of the schedule changes with both set to air for only 30 weeks of the year from January. Presenter Lorraine Kelly's daily show has seen its running time slashed by 30 minutes as bosses extend Good Morning Britain's slot to run from 6am until 9.30am. GMB host Adil Ray 'fat shames Luke Littler live on TV' It is understood that celebs across all the shows have voiced their concerns about their jobs being up in the air. The Sun told today how staff were understood to be blindsided by the announcements. One insider told us: "Everyone was completely blindsided, it was a total shock and people are feeling very deflated because nobody saw this coming - viewing figures are actually up for Lorraine and Loose Women has been scooping awards recently. "Staff are really panicking about their jobs - many have worked at daytime for decades and are completely heartbroken. "There's now a scramble for who will wait for a payout and who wants to stay." Some 220 jobs will be lost as part of shake-up - around half of all the people working across GMB, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women. While it's predominantly production and backroom staff taking the fall, we can reveal some on-screen talent are already looking for new career opportunities to beat the axe. Not all of Loose Women's 26-strong pool of presenters and panellists, which includes Denise Welch, Christine Lampard, Coleen Nolan and Charlene White, will be required with the new seasonal schedule. "Hosts will have their salary cut as they are paid per episode on Loose Women," said the insider. "There are real fears some of the stars could quit because it's a significant drop in income for them."
