Navi Mumbai: Our local heroes have returned home victorious. Athletes from Agnel's Khelo India Accredited Academy, who represented the state at the recently concluded Khelo India Youth Games 2025 in Bihar, delivered outstanding performances in their respective disciplines. Their accomplishments helped Maharashtra secure the top position in the medal tally at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025. In swimming events, Aditi Hegde, a Std X student of Father Agnel School, achieved remarkable success with five gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. She secured gold medals in the 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, and 4x100 freestyle relay, along with a silver in the 4x100 medley relay and a bronze in the 1,500m freestyle. Her fellow athlete, Shlok Khopade, earned a bronze in the 200m breaststroke. The track and field contingent brought significant success for Team Maharashtra. Agnelite Saif Chafekar secured a gold in the 110m hurdles, establishing a new Khelo India meet record with 13.48 seconds. Additionally, Saif, Aditya, and Rudra contributed to the state's success by winning gold in the 4x100m relay. Coach Shrinivas Gupta oversees the athletes' training at the Agnel ground, while coach Gokul Kamath supervises swimming practice at the Agnel's swimming pool. "We have an impressive catch at the national sporting event organised by the central sports ministry... We could not have bargained for more," said Gupta.
