Underpass project: officials say 85pc work completed
ISLAMABAD: The construction work on the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass project has been completed 85 percent, officials confirmed. Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and DG Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa, accompanied by Member Admin, Member Engineering and Member Estate, visited the project site to assess the pace and quality of the ongoing development work. The visit was part of efforts to ensure timely delivery of infrastructure projects under the directives of Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. During the on-site briefing, project officials informed Chairman Randhawa that the structural framework of the underpass is nearly complete, and finishing work has begun. The remaining tasks include final touches to the concrete work, installation of electrical systems, and the implementation of horticultural features to enhance the overall aesthetics. Work on the drainage system, asphalt laying, and road surfacing is progressing rapidly. The beautification phase, which includes the planting of environmentally friendly greenery and installation of modern LED lighting, is also underway. Chairman Randhawa emphasised that work must continue 24/7 on all fronts to meet the project deadline. He reiterated that no negligence will be tolerated and that quality construction and visual appeal must go hand-in-hand. He stated that the project, once completed, will serve as a key link for travellers between Islamabad International Airport and the scenic regions of Murree and Kashmir, offering signal-free, smooth passage. 'With 85 percent of the work completed, we are close to delivering a major urban mobility solution that will ease congestion, save fuel, and improve the travel experience for citizens,' he remarked. Clear long pending grave cases immediately: SP Raju
Tirupati: SP V Harshavardhan Raju directed police personnel of all stations across the district to clear the long-pending grave cases at the earliest. During the monthly crime review meeting held on Saturday, he asked the officials including DSPs, CIs and SIs to be sincere to their duties. The SP enquired the details of grave cases across the district and reasons for the delay and instructed the officials to pay special attention on house breaking, non-bailable cases, and missing cases. Stressing on taking measures to bring down road accidents, he wanted the staff to come out on highways and educate people on safety measures. They were also asked to identify hotspots on highways where accidents occur frequently and were directed to take strict action on those who violate the traffic rules. SP Raju said every CI or house officer of each station should make rounds in their jurisdiction every evening and also wanted the DSPs to monitor the work performance of the CIs and SIs. Giving importance to women safety, he wanted the police personnel to conduct awareness programmes on Shakti App at slums and rural areas frequently and explain to them how to use the app when they are in danger. The SP told the officials to concentrate on traffic and to increase force at check posts keeping in view of heavy devotees' rush during summer holidays. He enquired about public response towards on Palle Nidra, cleanliness in public places. Additional SPs Venkat Rao (Admin), Rama Krishna (Tirumala), Nagabhushanam (Crime), DSPs, CIs and SIs were present.

President Donald Trump's ninth week in office is expected to include a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the nations inch closer to reportedly securing a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. "The president uses the timeframe weeks, and I don't disagree with him. I am really hopeful that we're going to see some real progress here," U.S. special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff said on CNN on Sunday. "Nobody expected progress this fast. This is a highly, very complicated situation, and yet we're bridging the gap between two sides.
