Clear long pending grave cases immediately: SP Raju
Tirupati: SP V Harshavardhan Raju directed police personnel of all stations across the district to clear the long-pending grave cases at the earliest. During the monthly crime review meeting held on Saturday, he asked the officials including DSPs, CIs and SIs to be sincere to their duties.
The SP enquired the details of grave cases across the district and reasons for the delay and instructed the officials to pay special attention on house breaking, non-bailable cases, and missing cases. Stressing on taking measures to bring down road accidents, he wanted the staff to come out on highways and educate people on safety measures. They were also asked to identify hotspots on highways where accidents occur frequently and were directed to take strict action on those who violate the traffic rules. SP Raju said every CI or house officer of each station should make rounds in their jurisdiction every evening and also wanted the DSPs to monitor the work performance of the CIs and SIs. Giving importance to women safety, he wanted the police personnel to conduct awareness programmes on Shakti App at slums and rural areas frequently and explain to them how to use the app when they are in danger.
The SP told the officials to concentrate on traffic and to increase force at check posts keeping in view of heavy devotees' rush during summer holidays. He enquired about public response towards on Palle Nidra, cleanliness in public places.
Additional SPs Venkat Rao (Admin), Rama Krishna (Tirumala), Nagabhushanam (Crime), DSPs, CIs and SIs were present.

The Commission has now recommended the state government revoke the special immunity granted to CID Crime regarding cyber fraud cases—delivering a major win for transparency and the rights of hundreds of duped citizens. The exemption, in effect since October 25, 2005, under a Home Department notification, placed CID Crime beyond the purview of the Right to Information Act for crime-related investigations. However, the recent judgment has pierced this shield in the context of cybercrime, which the Commission argued is no longer a conventional 'sensitive crime' but a rapidly escalating public menace impacting citizens daily. The ruling stemmed from a plea by Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, a Gandhinagar resident who lost Rs 4.5 lakh to cyber fraud. After filing a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell, Prajapati sought the FIR copy and related documents under the RTI Act. CID Crime rejected his request, citing the 2005 exemption. Unwilling to accept silence in the face of theft, Prajapati took the matter to the State Information Commission.

'Electricity theft' case: Allahabad HC orders restoration of power supply at Sambhal MP Barq's home; calls Rs 1.91 crore fine 'arbitrary'

A division bench of justices Saumitra Dayal Singh and Sandeep Jain, passed the order on a writ petition by Barq in the electricity theft case . It also described as "arbitrary," UPPCL's Rs 1.91 crore fine on the SP leader over allegations of electricity theft. "Submission is that even if the inspection report and adverse facts allegedly found therein are accepted, no jurisdiction arose with the respondent authorities to make assessment for a period of 12 years," the court observed in its June 4 order, according to news agency PTI. "The maximum period for which assessment may have been made could not exceed one year. By breaching the statutory period of assessment, wholly unnatural and arbitrary demand of Rs 1 crore and 91 lakhs has been raised. The petitioner cannot be made to deposit 50% of such illegal demand to maintain an appeal," it added. Tight security for Bakrid celebrations
Rajamahendravaram: In view of Bakrid (Eid-ul-Adha) festival on Saturday, elaborate security arrangements have been made across the district, particularly at major mosques and Eidgahs, said District Superintendent of Police D Narasimh Kishore. Speaking after a coordination meeting with religious leaders on Friday, the SP stressed the need to uphold communal harmony and urged everyone to cooperate in maintaining law and order. Stating that special surveillance through solar-powered cameras and drones will be deployed, he assured that the police are fully prepared to ensure the festival is celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere. 'Muslims should celebrate Bakrid joyfully with their families,' he wished. Any attempt to disturb harmony through provocative speeches or objectionable posts on social media will invite strict legal action, he warned. The SP further clarified that illegal transportation of animals will not be tolerated. 'We are strictly implementing the directives of the High Court regarding cow slaughter. Any violation of these orders will lead to severe consequences,' he stated. He also mentioned that nodal officers have been instructed to promptly respond to complaints and enforce the Andhra Pradesh Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act-1977, Animal Transport Rules-1978, The Animal Transport (Amendment) Rules-2001 and Slaughter House Rules-2001. Citizens are encouraged to report any information related to cow slaughter or illegal transport of cattle by calling 112. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, the SP assured.
