RTA cracks down on pvt travels operating buses from Tirupati
Tirupati: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) officials in Tirupati conducted extensive checks on private travel buses operating between Tirupati and various distant destinations, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Visakhapatnam. The inspections, held on Saturday, were aimed at ensuring compliance with fitness, tax payments, and other permit-related requirements. During the last one week, the transport department has booked cases against 25 buses during the last one week and impounded fines to the tune of Rs 10 lakhs. Special attention was given to passenger safety, with officials ensuring that buses operating under National Permits always had two drivers on duty, as per safety regulations. The teams also thoroughly checked the passenger capacity of each bus to ensure no overloading occurred. Acting on the directives of district Collector Dr S Venkateswar and district Superintendent of Police V Harshavardhan Raju, the authorities kept a close watch on both outbound buses from Tirupati and inbound buses arriving from various cities. They also scrutinised unauthorised goods transportation and verified necessary bills. During the checks, a private bus traveling from Bellary to Tirupati was seized for not possessing valid fitness certificates and for non-payment of taxes. The authorities ensured that the stranded passengers were accommodated through alternative arrangements to avoid inconvenience. These inspections were carried out under the supervision of Tirupati District Transport Officer K Murali Mohan. The RTA teams in Tirupati included Motor Vehicle Inspectors Venumadhav, Srinivas Rao, Atika Naj, and Chandrasekhar, while in Sullurpet and Gudur, the teams led by Sunil Reddy, Prabhakar, Santhi, and Anil Kumar conducted similar checks.

Lokesh to lay stone for Rs 5,001 cr LG plant in Sri City today
Tirupati: South Korean electronics giant LG is set to establish its third manufacturing unit in India with an investment of Rs 5,001 crore. The new facility will come up in Sri City, marking the company's first unit in the southern region of the country. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, with Minister for Education and IT, Electronics and Communications Nara Lokesh to lay the foundation stone. The Andhra Pradesh government gave its nod for the mega investment in April. The project will be LG's third plant in India after its existing units in Pune and Noida. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has allotted 188 acres of land near Kolladam village in the Phase 2 expansion area of Sri City for the initial phase. An additional 70 acres will be provided in the second phase. The state government has also extended a customised incentive package to support the project. This includes complete water subsidy for 20 years, and exemptions from stamp duty and registration charges. Once operational, the plant is expected to generate direct employment for around 1,500 people, while nearly 5,000 others are likely to benefit from indirect employment opportunities across Tirupati, Nellore, and neighbouring districts. In view of the Thursday's event, District Collector Dr S Venkateswar, along with Superintendent of Police V Harshavardhan Raju, Sri City MD Ravindra Sannareddy, Joint Collector Shubham Bansal, Additional SP Ravi Manoharachari, Sullurupeta RDO Kiranmayi, and representatives from LG conducted an inspection of the arrangements at the project site on Wednesday. They reviewed the preparations for Minister Lokesh's visit. Clear long pending grave cases immediately: SP Raju
Tirupati: SP V Harshavardhan Raju directed police personnel of all stations across the district to clear the long-pending grave cases at the earliest. During the monthly crime review meeting held on Saturday, he asked the officials including DSPs, CIs and SIs to be sincere to their duties. The SP enquired the details of grave cases across the district and reasons for the delay and instructed the officials to pay special attention on house breaking, non-bailable cases, and missing cases. Stressing on taking measures to bring down road accidents, he wanted the staff to come out on highways and educate people on safety measures. They were also asked to identify hotspots on highways where accidents occur frequently and were directed to take strict action on those who violate the traffic rules. SP Raju said every CI or house officer of each station should make rounds in their jurisdiction every evening and also wanted the DSPs to monitor the work performance of the CIs and SIs. Giving importance to women safety, he wanted the police personnel to conduct awareness programmes on Shakti App at slums and rural areas frequently and explain to them how to use the app when they are in danger. The SP told the officials to concentrate on traffic and to increase force at check posts keeping in view of heavy devotees' rush during summer holidays. He enquired about public response towards on Palle Nidra, cleanliness in public places. Additional SPs Venkat Rao (Admin), Rama Krishna (Tirumala), Nagabhushanam (Crime), DSPs, CIs and SIs were present.
