Technocrat Chandrasekhar Thota donates Rs 1 crore to TTD's Pranadana trust

TIRUPATI: Non resident Indian technocrat Chandrasekhar Thota has donated Rs.1 cr to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Sri Venkateswara Pranadana trust on Thursday. Chandu Thota, who works as the Vice President at Google, is an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara and has been visiting Tirumala for many years now. The Indian origin technocrat settled in the United States of America along with his family members offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara at the Tirumala temple earlier in the morning and later on met TTD chairman BR Naidu at the latter's camp office on the hill town and handed over the donation of Rs 1 crore in the form of a cheque to SV Pranadana trust. TTD chairman BR Naidu stated that the Pranadana trust established by the TTD offers world-class medical and healthcare services at free of cost to the needy patients from below the poverty line. Sri Padmavathi super specialty hospital for children, recently established by the TTD, which is linked to SV Pranadanam trust, has so far successfully performed more than 2000 heart surgeries free of cost for children from the economically underprivileged sections of the society. While the super specialty hospital for children is functioning from a makeshift premises at present, the Tirupati trust has been pooling in funds to the tune of Rs.400 cr through donations to the Pranadana trust for establishing the world-class super specialty hospital for children along the along the Tirupati-Cherlopalli road in the city and the works of the permanent building are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Tirupati: On the penultimate day as part of Sri Govindaraja Swamy annual Brahmotsavam, the Utsava deities atop the mammoth wooden chariot blessed devotees on Monday. Sridevi Bhudevi Sameta Sri Govindaraja Swamy marched with royalty along the streets of Tirupati. Later, Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed to deities. In the evening, Unjal Seva will be performed. Both the Tirumala Pontiffs, FACAO Balaji, Dy EO Shanti and others were present.

Tirupati: SP V Harshavardhan Raju directed police personnel of all stations across the district to clear the long-pending grave cases at the earliest. During the monthly crime review meeting held on Saturday, he asked the officials including DSPs, CIs and SIs to be sincere to their duties. The SP enquired the details of grave cases across the district and reasons for the delay and instructed the officials to pay special attention on house breaking, non-bailable cases, and missing cases. Stressing on taking measures to bring down road accidents, he wanted the staff to come out on highways and educate people on safety measures. They were also asked to identify hotspots on highways where accidents occur frequently and were directed to take strict action on those who violate the traffic rules. SP Raju said every CI or house officer of each station should make rounds in their jurisdiction every evening and also wanted the DSPs to monitor the work performance of the CIs and SIs. Giving importance to women safety, he wanted the police personnel to conduct awareness programmes on Shakti App at slums and rural areas frequently and explain to them how to use the app when they are in danger. The SP told the officials to concentrate on traffic and to increase force at check posts keeping in view of heavy devotees' rush during summer holidays. He enquired about public response towards on Palle Nidra, cleanliness in public places. Additional SPs Venkat Rao (Admin), Rama Krishna (Tirumala), Nagabhushanam (Crime), DSPs, CIs and SIs were present.
