4 members of inter-state auto-lifter gang held in M'nagar

1 2 3 4 Agra: Four members of an inter-state gang from Muzaffarnagar, allegedly involved in vehicle thefts across Delhi-NCR, were arrested during a routine check by Mansoorpur police on Sunday. Six stolen vehicles were recovered in the operation. SP (city) Satyanarayan Prajapat said, "Musahid (30), Asif (35), Anas (25) and Azam (32), all residents of Khalapar in Muzaffarnagar, were charged under the Gangster Act. They have multiple cases registered against them in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Musahid and Azam are key members of the gang. Musahid, who was recently released after serving eight months in jail, admitted to stealing 15-16 vehicles, though police are still verifying his claims. " Police said the gang targeted cars in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida, taking advantage of limited parking space and easier conditions compared to Muzaffarnagar, where frequent checks make thefts more difficult. The stolen vehicles were later dismantled at a yard in Uttarakhand and sold as spare parts. "The gang mainly targeted older cars. Using a scrap license taken in the name of an associate, they dismantled vehicles in Uttarakhand and sold the parts in the open market. Five owners have so far been traced," the SP said.
