NFL insider revisits his biggest concerns about Kelee Ringo amid a difficult camp battle
Greg Cosell revisited his initial NFL draft analysis when discussing Eagles CB Kelee Ringo's preseason struggles The 2025 NFL draft was another outstanding event, and Kelee Ringo was widely regarded as the biggest winner. Over the three-day weekend, the Eagles landed ten impact players, including former Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell. What the Eagles didn't do was select a cornerback until Round 5 when they selected UCF slot cornerback Mac McWilliams, who, coincidentally, wasn't initially looked at as a candidate to win the cornerback job opposite Quinyon Mitchell. The Eagles lost Darius Slay (Steelers), James Bradberry (free agent), Avonte Maddox (Lions), and Isaiah Rodgers (Vikings) in free agency and signed Adoree' Jackson. Even with those moves, Ringo was the biggest winner and had the inside track to be a starter. Fast forward four months, and Ringo has been an underwhelming performer and is losing a camp battle with Adoree' Jackson, with Jakorian Bennett making his case for the job after being acquired in a trade. Legendary NFL analyst Greg Cosell was a guest on the Ross Tucker Podcast and revisited his initial pre-draft analysis of Ringo, which focused on his stiff lower body and, most importantly, his inability to have an elite change of direction. Ringo is starting to feel the squeeze after his preseason matchup against Bengals All-Pro wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase. Ringo is engulfed in an intense training camp battle with Adoree' Jackson, and neither player did anything in the opener to warrant being named a starter. Ringo allowed two catches for 59 yards and a TD when matched up against Chase, and the touchdown catch was bad with the Eagles' cornerback whiffing on a tackle attempt.

Former USC cornerback Adoree' Jackson signs with Philadelphia Eagles
Former USC cornerback Adoree' Jackson signs with Philadelphia Eagles Adoree' Jackson gets a fresh start in Philly Barely a month after winning the Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles have already turned their eyes to 2025. On Thursday, they took a notable step in their title defense by adding a legendary Trojan to their team. Thursday afternoon, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported that the Eagles are signing former USC star cornerback Adoree' Jackson. The terms of the deal have not yet been reported. Jackson comes to Philadelphia from New York, where he spent the past four seasons with the Giants. Prior to that, Jackson began his career with the Tennessee Titans, who drafted him, 18th overall back in 2017. USC fans have fond memories of Jackson as a shutdown cornerback who also returned kicks and punts, and even played on offense occasionally. As a junior in 2016, Jackson won the Thorpe Award as the country's top defensive back. In his final game at the Coliseum against Notre Dame, he had a kickoff return touchdown, punt return touchdown, and reception touchdown all in the same game. A month later, he ended his USC career with an interception in the Trojans' instant classic Rose Bowl victory over Penn State. While not quite living up to the hype that surrounded him when he was drafted, Jackson has had a very solid NFL career. Now, he will join a Philadelphia secondary that experienced a resurgence in 2024 thanks to rookie cornerbacks Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell. Eagles fans are hoping that Jackson will provide solid depth to their secondary as they attempt to repeat as Super Bowl champions this upcoming season.

Philadelphia Eagles signing ex-New York Giants cornerback Adoree' Jackson
The career of cornerback Adoree' Jackson will continue in 2025 but it will not be as a member of the New York Giants. Rather, Jackson will join his former Giants teammate Saquon Barkley in the City of Brotherly Love as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles after agreeing to terms on a one-year deal. Breaking: Former #Giants CB Adoree' Jackson is signing with the #Eagles, I'm has started 82 career games and adds experience and depth to Philadelphia's secondary. — Jordan Schultz (@Schultz_Report) March 13, 2025 Jackson, 29, was a first-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2017 NFL draft and spent the first four years of his career in Nashville before signing a free agent deal with the Giants in 2021. It appeared the Giants and Jackson were poised to part ways following the 2023 season but they reunited in September of last year. In 97 career games (82 starts), Jackson has recorded 404 tackles (330 solo, 10 for a loss), six forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, 61 passes defensed, four interceptions, and one defensive touchdown. He earned an overall Pro Football Focus grade of 69.0 in 2024. With the Eagles, the veteran Jackson will help fill the void left by the release of fellow cornerback Darius Slay.
