Paddock Wood plans unveiled for more than 500 new homes near town
Plans have been unveiled for more than 500 homes and a new healthcare facility on the edge of a town in firm Dandara South East is looking to build a 520-home estate on farmland east of Paddock Wood next to the railway line, with 40% being earmarked as affordable firm said they also intended to build a "local centre" of up to 700sq m (7,535sq ft) of floorspace, including a healthcare Democrat councillor Adrian Pitts, who represents Paddock Wood on Tunbridge Wells Borough Council (TWBC), said the development was "very key" to the town.
However, he added: "I think you've got to have the infrastructure first."There is a big issue in the background, which is coping with the flooding that area already sees."The councillor said the developers had already adapted their plans "considerably" due to the flooding site, which is about the size of 64 football pitches, has a small brook running through the middle of it, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) says.
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) scoping report has been submitted to TWBC in relation to the means Dandara South East is asking TWBC to come to an opinion about what the EIA accompanying the full planning application will need to cover.A full application has not yet been submitted to the council, the LDRS said.
