Couple enjoying naked car date die after car plunges 1,300 feet off cliff at remote beauty spot
A couple's lustful date night ended in terrifying tragedy when their car plunged 1,300 feet off a cliff in Brazil, sending their naked bodies tumbling from the vehicle.
Adriana Ribeiro, 42, and her boyfriend Marcone Cardoso, 26, had parked at an overlook in Venda Nova do Imigrante, in the state of Espirito Santo, on Monday after attending a party.
The pair stopped off at the cliff's edge, which is known as a popular spot for hang-gliding, to lock lips.
CNN reported that the two were having sex at the time and that their movement inside the car led it to tip over the edge.
The car fell to an area about 300 feet from the top of the cliff where their naked bodies were ejected.
The vehicle then plunged another 1,000 feet to the base of the mountain, where police found Cardoso's body.
Tiago Amorim, who works at the hang-gliding site, told TV Gazeta that he heard a loud noise around 2:20 am, but had trouble seeing anything because it was too dark.
'I saw the car's engine very far away and the car fell almost 150 meters from the accident,' he said. 'It was a shocking scene, the car was destroyed, turned into a piece of paper. The height is very big.'
Firefighters had to hike in recover Ribeiro's body.
'It was very steep terrain. At the bottom there was dense vegetation, and at the top there was a rock wall,' one of the firefighters told the broadcaster.
'The first body, the man's, was right at the base of the rock wall.
'Now, to search for the second victim, the team had to make a trail through the dense vegetation.'
Cardoso's brother said that that the couple, who were dating for just six months, went a party with him before dropping him off at his own home.
'They left me at home and went out together,' he said.
'He had worked all weekend, hadn't seen her for four days, and they went out together.'
Ribeiro was divorced and leaves behind two children, a boy and a girl, from her previous relationship.
Cardoso was the father of a four-year-old, also from a prior relationship.
His former girlfriend described him as the 'love of her life' in a social media post.
Espirito Santo Civil Police chief Alberto Peres said investigators have ruled out foul play, according to Brazilian news outlet G1.
'We're investigating, looking into everything,' he said. 'What we have today is this: they were at a party, stopped there to make out a bit before heading home, and unfortunately, these events happened.'
