Madhyamik topper Adrit Sarkar on scoring 99.43%: ‘Didn't need rigid schedule… It was about understanding concepts'

A student of the Raiganj Coronation High School, Adrit Sarkar, secured the top rank in the Madhyamik (Class X) examinations with a score of 696 out of 700 (99.43%). Just moments after the official announcement, cameras and microphones descended upon Adrit while he addressed the media saying, 'I haven't really solidified my future plans, But right now, the medical field fascinates me.' 'However, if my interests evolve in the next couple of years, I'm open to exploring other paths,' he said. 'I've always been captivated by stories. I love reading detective books. I had hoped for a good result, maybe even a place within the top ten,' Adrit said. 'But topping the state was not what I was thinking about.' When asked about his favorite subject, he said, 'Biology! I find it incredibly engaging. But I genuinely enjoy studying all my subjects.' Adrit shared his own approach: 'There wasn't a strict timetable that dictated my studies. It was more about consistent effort and understanding.' He then gratefully acknowledged his support system. 'My father, mother, sister, school teachers – they all played a crucial role in this journey.' He spoke further. 'I have a special love for literature. Whenever I found a spare moment since I was little, I would immerse myself in storybooks.' Adrit offered a message of encouragement to future Madhyamik examinees. 'I want to tell them that success is attainable even without adhering to a rigid, hour-by-hour schedule. On average, I used to study for about 8 to 10 hours a day, but it was about focused learning and understanding concepts rather than just clocking in time.'
