Lisa's New Single Helps Her Accomplish A Special Feat On The Charts

Lisa's new collaboration with Maroon 5 is proving to be not just a commercial hit, but one of the most significant radio successes in her solo career. The Blackpink superstar teamed up with the pop band for the joint single "Priceless," which arrived on several Billboard charts last week. As it disappears from one ranking, it debuts on another and continues its steady climb on several others. "Priceless" opens on the Adult Contemporary chart this week, coming in at No. 29. The song marks Lisa's second release under her own name to reach this ranking, which tracks the most successful singles at U.S. radio stations that focus on adult contemporary — a more mature-leaning subgenre of pop music. Last week, "Priceless" landed on both the Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay tallies. This frame, it improves to new peaks on both, lifting to Nos. 22 and 12, respectively. As "Priceless" debuts on the Adult Contemporary chart, it becomes Lisa's second single to appear on all three of Billboard's pop radio rosters. It's also her first collaboration to manage that feat. Only one other Lisa solo cut has achieved this trifecta: "Moonlit Floor," which also landed on the Pop Airplay, Adult Contemporary, and Adult Pop Airplay lists. That track, featured on her recent solo album Alter Ego, peaked at No. 24 on the AC roster, No. 21 on Pop Airplay, and No. 38 on Adult Pop Airplay. It remains her longest-charting success across all three lists. While Lisa has only reached the Adult Contemporary chart twice, she has placed additional tracks on the two other pop radio rosters. The Blackpink star has now scored three wins on the Adult Pop Airplay list, with her collaboration "Born Again,' featuring Doja Cat and Rare, also reaching a No. 38 peak. She has performed best on the Pop Airplay tally, where she's now landed five smashes. In addition to "Priceless," "Moonlit Floor," and "Born Again," her other Alter Ego single "Rockstar" spent several frames on the chart, as did her 2021 solo breakout "Money," which first brought her to the top 40 list.

Jill Sobule Dies at Age 66 in a House Fire

Jill Sobule, the acclaimed folk-pop singer and human rights activist, died in a reported house fire in Woodbury, Minnesota, on Thursday (May 1). She was 66 years old. The groundbreaking artist, who identified as bisexual, began her career with her 1990 debut album Things Here Are Different. The set sparked her first appearance on Billboard's charts as its single 'Too Cool to Fall in Love' hit No. 17 on Adult Contemporary. Five years later, she broke out with her self-titled 1995 album and its hit single 'I Kissed a Girl,' which peaked at No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top 20 of the Alternative Airplay chart (then known as Modern Rock Tracks). Rosé Makes Radio History In America Yet Again with 'Apt.'

Rosé's 'Apt.' continues its run in the U.S., tying Fifty Fifty's 'Cupid' as the ... More third-longest-running hit by any K-pop act on the Adult Contemporary chart. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 12: Rosé, aka Roseanne Park MBE, is seen on the Upper East Side on October 12, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by TheStewartofNY/GC Images) Rosé scored a real long-term win with 'Apt.,' which even she might not have expected when she first dropped the cut in 2024. The single remains a radio staple in the U.S., still performing exceptionally well on all three of Billboard's major pop-focused charts. While the track is starting to slow down on one list, it's holding steady near its peak on another — and it's sitting at its highest position ever on a third. It's not just where 'Apt.' ranks that matters, though, but how long it's lasted, and with each new frame, Rosé continues to make history. 'Apt.' has now spent 13 weeks on the Adult Contemporary chart, which measures the tunes that reach the largest total audience via adult contemporary radio stations in the U.S. That's one of the longest stays ever by any K-pop act, solo or otherwise. Rosé, who was born in New Zealand but launched her music career in South Korea as one-fourth of the global girl group Blackpink, has enjoyed huge success both with the band and on her own. While not all of her solo material fits squarely into the K-pop box, 'Apt.' showcases her bilingual skills, with lyrics in both English and Korean. With 13 frames now to its credit, 'Apt.' ties Fifty Fifty's 'Cupid' as the third-longest-charting hit by a K-pop act on the Adult Contemporary ranking. 'Cupid' fell off the list after 13 weeks, but Rosé may soon pull ahead. Currently, the all-time record for the longest-running K-pop songs belongs to BTS's 'Dynamite' and the septet's collaboration with Coldplay, 'My Universe.' Both tracks held on for 20 weeks — a high bar, sure, but not necessarily out of reach. This week, 'Apt.' is a non-mover at No. 17 on the Adult Contemporary chart, just one rung below its all-time high. Given how slowly songs tend to move around on this specific ranking, there's a good chance the cut will stick around for at least another week, if not several more. It's highly likely Rosé will break her current tie with Fifty Fifty very soon, and if momentum holds, she may start creeping up on those BTS records. 'Apt.' has already reached the summit of the Pop Airplay chart, a major win for any K-pop artist. While the song slips this week from No. 7 to No. 11, dipping outside the top 10, a post-peak decline like that is fairly typical after such a high and following such a lengthy stay on the tally. On the Adult Pop Airplay chart, Rosé's collaboration with Bruno Mars holds at No. 2 for another week. That's the track's all-time peak so far, and it stands a real shot at becoming the first No. 1 on that list by any K-pop musician. If 'Apt.' can hang on a little longer, it might just help Rosé make even more history.

Blackpink's Rosé Beats BTS And Makes Radio History — Again

Rosé's solo hit "Apt" climbs to a new peak on the Adult Contemporary chart, outlasting BTS's ... More "Butter" and charting across all three major U.S. pop radio formats. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 13: Rosé aka Roseanne Park MBE is seen in Midtown on October 13, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by TheStewartofNY/GC Images) Blackpink's Rosé just won't let go of American radio — and at this point, why should she? The K-pop superstar's breakout solo hit "Apt." is still holding on across multiple Billboard airplay rankings this spring, and with every passing frame, it continues to make history. As the months roll on, Rosé finds herself not just lingering on important U.S. lists, but steadily climbing — and, in the process, inching past some of the most recognizable names in the genre she helped globalize. "Apt." lifts from No. 17 to No. 16 on the current edition of the Adult Contemporary chart, hitting a new high point on that ranking. The list — one of three Billboard rankings that measures success at pop-centric radio formats in the U.S. — has become a reliable home for the tune throughout the past few months. Rosé's "Apt." has now spent 11 weeks on the Adult Contemporary chart. This latest frame helps the track break out of a tie and stand alone as the fourth-longest-charting release by any K-pop artist on this particular list. While "Apt." doesn't sound like a typical K-pop single, Rosé's association with the genre is easy to pinpoint. Her success with Blackpink catapulted her to international stardom, and that connection still follows her into solo territory, even when the music veers in a more Western pop direction. At 11 weeks, "Apt." has now outlasted BTS's 'Butter' on the Adult Contemporary chart, pushing that fan-favorite down to fifth place on the all-time list of the longest-running hits by K-pop acts. Until this week, both singles had spent 10 frames on the tally, but now Rosé pulls ahead. Further up on the ranking of the most successful tunes by K-pop stars on this list sit a trio of other global smashes. BTS's 'Dynamite' and 'My Universe' — the septet's collaborative effort with Coldplay — are tied for first, with 20 weeks each on the roster. Just ahead of "Apt." is 'Cupid' by Fifty Fifty, which has held on for 13 frames. That's now the next hurdle for Rosé, and looking at how well "Apt" continues to perform, it might not be long before she matchesthat hit as well. Rosé's solo hit doesn't just appear on one pop radio ranking this week – it finds a home on all three of Billboard's major tallies focused on the genre's airplay. In addition to its new peak on the Adult Contemporary chart, "Apt." also lifts from No. 5 to No. 4 on the Adult Pop Airplay list. The track does slide slightly on the Pop Airplay chart, backing down from No. 7 to No. 9. "Apt." previously reached No. 1 on that ranking, so a slight decline is hardly a setback.

Benson Boone Makes History As He Finally Hits No. 1

Benson Boone earns his first No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart with 'Beautiful Things,' ... More setting a new record in the process. MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 10: Benson Boone performs onstage during the MTV EMAs 2024 held at Co-op Live on November 10, 2024 in Manchester, England. (Photo by Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic) In just a few short years, Benson Boone has amassed a devoted global fanbase and released a string of radio-friendly tracks that have slowly but surely helped him break into the mainstream. While he's placed on the charts before, and even scored some huge winners, he had never reached the throne on one tally – until now. Boone rises to the top of one of Billboard's most important radio rankings, and in the process, he makes history in a way few could have predicted. This week, Boone reaches a career milestone, as his single "Beautiful Things" climbs to No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. The worldwide smash lifts from the runner-up rung to the highest spot on the tally, becoming his first leader on the list of the tracks that reach the total largest audience across stations in the U.S. that play AC music – a more adult style of pop. Not only is this Boone's first No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, it also sets a new record. Billboard reports that "Beautiful Things" ascends to the top spot in its fifty-fifth week on the ranking. That's the longest journey to No. 1 in the history of the list. The previous record holder was "If You're Gone" by Matchbox Twenty. That pop rock smash needed forty-two frames to reach the summit. Boone beats that showing by a wide margin, requiring several more months before finally claiming the highest rung. As "Beautiful Things" steps into the spotlight, it knocks away another powerhouse: "Lose Control" by Teddy Swims. That track managed to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 — beating Boone's tune to that mark — and it also performed exceptionally well on the Adult Contemporary tally. Swims's smash ruled for 32 out of its 67 total weeks on the list. It stands out as one of the most successful cuts in the ranking's recent memory. While "Beautiful Things" is Boone's biggest success on the Adult Contemporary chart, it's not his only appearance. He's already placed four songs on the tally throughout his career. His second-highest entry is "Slow It Down," which climbed to No. 18. More recently, "Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else" debuted at No. 24, and it's still present on the list at the moment, giving Boone a pair of winners. Back in 2022, the singer-songwriter's early single "Ghost Town" reached No. 28, though it quickly vanished just one frame later.
