St. Louis Community College to unveil new advanced manufacturing center
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The Florissant Valley Campus of St. Louis Community College (STLCC) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday for its new Advanced Manufacturing Center, a $51.8 million facility designed to train students in various technical fields.
The state-of-the-art building will provide hands-on training in manufacturing, engineering, technology, and technical trades, preparing students for careers in fields such as HVAC, welding, electronics, and biomedical equipment repair.
'This is a really hands-on facility,' said Tom McGovern, Dean of Industrial Occupations, Business, and Culinary at STLCC. 'Everything in this building is state of the art, is the equipment they're going to find in the field when they go work on it.'
The new center is part of the STLCC Transformed Project, funded by Proposition R, an eight-cent tax increase approved by voters in 2021 to improve STLCC campuses.
