'I visited enchanting waterfall in North Wales – and think it looks like Bali'

The summer holidays are here, and many of us will be choosing to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to relax on holiday surrounded by nature with some stunning views. While some lucky travellers may head further afield to catch a glimpse of paradise, shedding thousands of pounds on a flight to Bali, one secret spot much closer to home can leave you feeling like you're in the tropics. While North Wales may not have coconut trees and a warm sea, it is perhaps more known for its mountains, rugged coastlines, and swooping valleys. However, hidden on the edge of Snowdonia and just a short drive away from Bangor is the beautiful Ceunant Mawr Falls. Recently discovered by travel TikTokers, they couldn't believe more people hadn't heard of the tropical falls. In the video that gathered thousands of views, they said: "Did you know about this epic waterfall in Wales that looks like it's straight out of Bali? I honestly can't believe I've never heard of this before. "This is Ceunant Mawr Falls and is probably one of the best short walk waterfalls I've ever been to, and it's not because it looks like something straight out of the Jungle Book. "It literally takes minutes to get to from the car park and hardly anybody knows about it. Catch this on a warm day, and I promise you'll just forget what country you're actually in." The falls are a breathtaking sight and are so easily accessed by being just a few hundred meters away from Llanberis town centre. Hundreds of tourists spot them from further away from the viaduct on the Snowdon Railway, but there's nothing like being up and close with the crashing water. Online, many happy visitors have posted about their experience. One person leaving a five-star Google Review wrote: "Absolutely enchanting walk along the river to this triple waterfall. Only 10 minutes from Snowdonia Mountain railway and a good stop off for a dip if you've just got back from the Snowdon hike." Snowdonia Guide suggests a simple one and a half mile route around the falls to get the best views and stretch your legs. They suggest: "Commencing at the forecourt of the Snowdon Mountain Railway Station (parking is available opposite the station) in the centre of Llanberis, turn right, then take the first right turn." After that, they tell walkers to walk to the end of the road and take the public footpath to the left, which will be marked Ceunant Mawr Waterfall. Next, follow the footpath past the viaduct and uphill, where there is an impressive observation point. They add: "The impressive waterfall can be viewed from an observation point which is reached by crossing the mountain railway track through a turnstile-style gate positioned near the top of the hill."
