Reservation charting to begin earlier Advt Modern reservation system by December Authentication measures for Tatkal bookings By , ETInfra Indian Railways is making changes to its ticketing system to improve passenger convenience, with reforms covering ticket reservation, charting, and authentication for Tatkal bookings Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has reviewed ongoing reforms and accepted a proposal to advance the preparation of reservation charts. Currently, charts are prepared four hours before train departure, which creates uncertainty for waitlisted passengers, particularly those travelling from remote address this, the Railway Board has proposed that reservation charts be prepared eight hours before departure. For trains departing before 1400 hrs, the chart will be prepared at 2100 hrs the previous day. The Railway Minister approved phased implementation of this system to avoid to the ministry, this move is aimed at providing earlier updates on waitlist status, enabling passengers to make alternative arrangements in Railway Minister also reviewed progress on the development of a new Passenger Reservation System (PRS), being executed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems ( CRIS ). The upgraded PRS is expected to be operational by December of this new system will be designed to handle a higher volume of traffic. It will enable over 1.5 lakh ticket bookings per minute, up from the current 32,000. Ticket enquiry capacity will increase from 4 lakh to over 40 lakh per upgraded PRS will include multilingual support and an interface that allows users to submit seating preferences and view fare calendars.
