BigTime Creative Shop claims milestone Sports Emmy® win

BigTime Creative Shop has received a Sports Emmy® Award for Outstanding Promotional Announcement at the 45th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) – a win BigTime says marks the first time a Middle East and Africa-based creative shop has taken home the honour. The award was for Obsession – Usyk 2 Fury Reignited, a stylised promotional film created for Riyadh Season's highly anticipated boxing rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. The film was conceptualised by BigTime, directed by French collective Megaforce, and produced by Riff Raff Films. Set to Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out of My Head, the film offers a surreal and comedic depiction of mutual obsession between the two boxers. From Fury imagining Usyk replacing his entire family to Usyk spotting Fury's face on a sausage – a nod to the fighter's infamous taunts – the film built global buzz around one of the sport's most talked-about rivalries. The campaign was part of Riyadh Season's broader strategy to cement Saudi Arabia as a global hub for major sports and entertainment events. BigTime Creative Shop has worked across sport, culture and entertainment and was recognised as the most awarded independent agency in MENA at Dubai Lynx and The One Club, and named Middle East Agency of the Year at Adfest.

William pays tribute to ‘immense sacrifices' of rangers after fatal attack

Anti-poaching scouts Domingos Daude and Fernando Paolo Wirsone were killed in the attack in the Niassa Special Reserve last week, according to William's United for Wildlife (UFW) organisation – which combats the illegal trafficking of animals. Ranger Mario Cristovao was injured and a further two scouts remain unaccounted for. This attack is yet another brutal reminder of the immense sacrifices made by those protecting our natural world. The reality is that being a ranger has become one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet. My thoughts are with all those affected and their families. W — The Prince and Princess of Wales (@KensingtonRoyal) May 7, 2025 In a personally signed message on X, William called their jobs 'one of the most dangerous' in the world. 'This attack is yet another brutal reminder of the immense sacrifices made by those protecting our natural world,' he said. 'The reality is that being a ranger has become one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet. 'My thoughts are with all those affected and their families. W' He reposted a UFW statement which said: 'Our heartfelt condolences go to the families and colleagues of Domingos and Fernando as well as the severely injured scout Mario Cristovao who we hope makes a full recovery. 'Our thoughts are also with the families of the two scouts that remain unaccounted for, we pray for their safe return and know the team in Niassa are doing everything possible to find them. 'Rangers are on the frontline of nature protection, and these devastating acts of violence are a stark reminder of the grave danger these individuals face on a daily basis. 'This highlights the critical need to increase our efforts to support the crucial work of nature's guardians.' In November last year, the prince announced a new life insurance cover for rangers who safeguard Africa's wildlife. In his keynote speech at the UFW summit, William described the workers as 'guardians of our planet's most precious resources' as he outlined the five-year Ranger Welfare and Standards Initiative, providing 10,000 rangers working across Africa with access to the financial scheme. He said: 'Rangers are fundamental if we are to meet our global conservation targets for 2030 and prevent the dangerous tipping points that threaten our planet. 'These people do far more than protect wildlife. They are educators. They are community supporters. And they help regulate the sustainable use of natural resources.' The future king is royal patron of the Africa-based wildlife charity Tusk Trust and in 2022 he paid tribute to 'committed and brave' ranger Anton Mzimba who was shot and killed outside his home that year.

The Prince of Wales has paid tribute to rangers and the 'immense sacrifices' they make to safeguard nature after two scouts died in an attack in a Mozambique reserve. Prince Harry ‘killed spirit of African charity Sentebale after marrying Meghan'

Prince Harry reportedly became 'disinterested' in his Africa-based charity Sentebale following his marriage to Meghan Markle and move to the United States. The Duke of Sussex's apparent withdrawal is said to have 'killed the spirit' of the organisation, which he co-founded in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in memory of his late mother, Princess Diana. The claims come amid suggestions that Harry's involvement dwindled significantly after his 2018 wedding and the couple's relocation to North America two years later. The pair made the 'truly heartbroken' decision last month to resign as patrons from the charity — which supports Lesotho's vulnerable youth — following a string of allegations from former chairman Dr Sophie Chandauka. The Zimbabwean-born lawyer accused the estranged royal of staging a 'cover-up' of an investigation into wrongdoing at Sentebale and sending an 'unpleasant' message for failing to defend Meghan in public. Harry last visited Lesotho in southern Africa in October 2024 — his first in six years. Harry's a loved figure, but his loss of interest has totally killed the spirit of the Sentebale Chief Khoabane Theko He had previously visited more frequently, making four trips between 2010 and 2015. Chief Khoabane Theko, who claims to be Prince Seeiso's brother, said he was 'perturbed' when Harry and Meghan failed to visit Lesotho when on holiday in Africa. Arguing the Duke could have visited Lesotho 'more often', he told The Telegraph: 'When (Sentebale) was launched, I remember his words quite vividly, because he was very strong in saying 'my mother, this place, her passion about Africa' and all that.' The chief, who was unaware Harry had visited Lesotho twice since his marriage seven years ago, added: 'He's a loved figure because of his openness, but his loss of interest has totally killed the spirit of the Sentebale's survival.' Harry has accused Dr Chandauka of telling 'blatant lies' after the Charity Commision launched an investigation into 'concerns' about how Sentebale has been run. Since the resignations, Dr Chandauka has called the Sussexes' brand 'toxic' and accused Harry of 'harassment and bullying at scale' – a claim he fervently denied. In a statement, Harry said he believes the truth about their deepening rift will be 'unveiled'. He said: 'What has transpired over the last week has been heartbreaking to witness, especially when such blatant lies hurt those who have invested decades in this shared goal. 'No one suffers more than the beneficiaries of Sentebale itself.'

Energy Capital & Power Launches United States (U.S.)-Africa Energy Forum: Bridging U.S. Investment with Africa's Energy Future

Energy Capital&Power (ECP) ( is proud to announce the launch of the U.S.-Africa Energy Forum (USAEF), an integral event designed to connect U.S. investors with Africa's vast energy opportunities while strengthening the foundation for ECP's mainline conferences across Africa. Taking place in Houston on August 6-7, 2025, USAEF will bring together policymakers, industry leaders and investors to explore Africa's rapidly growing energy sector and its alignment with U.S. investment potential. Organized by Energy Capital&Power, the forum is proud to collaborate with key partners, including Welligence, the Texas Africa Chamber of Commerce, the African Energy Chamber, Moore and S&P Global Commodity Insights, to drive industry engagement and cooperation. These partnerships are set to enhance knowledge sharing, market insights and strategic initiatives across the energy sector. USAEF serves as a strategic extension of ECP's flagship events in Tripoli, Brazzaville, Paris, Luanda, Cape Town and beyond, enabling participants to access high-potential African energy projects while leveraging Houston's role as a global energy hub. By linking U.S. stakeholders to licensing rounds and investment-ready opportunities on the continent, the forum enriches ongoing dialogues and partnerships that culminate in ECP's Africa-based events. The forum highlights dynamic African markets, including the Republic of Congo, Libya and Angola, showcasing upcoming licensing rounds, brownfield projects, LNG projects and groundbreaking developments from deepwater oil and gas exploration to utility-scale renewables. With curated roundtable discussions and in-depth sessions on each market, data presentations, one-on-one investor meetings, a private equity and investment roundtable and in-depth session on African minerals and critical resources, USAEF empowers participants to unlock synergies and build connections that resonate across the energy value chain and extend into ECP's broader event network. The program will also feature fireside chats, a ministerial panel and high-level, open-door panels spanning upstream exploration to downstream refining and trade. Africa's energy sector is experiencing unprecedented momentum, solidifying its position as a global leader in upstream investment. With $47 billion in capital expenditure – a 23% year-on-year increase – Africa is driving a significant portion of the $125 billion global upstream investment. Nigeria leads the continent with $13.5 billion in investments, while offshore exploration in Namibia continues at a record pace. Ghana has raised its oil and gas production by 10% and 7%, respectively, and the $5 billion Africa Energy Bank is poised to sustain funding for fossil fuel projects. Recent Final Investment Decisions highlight this surge, including the $6 billion Kaminho Deepwater Project in Angola, Nigeria's $5 billion Bonga North Tranche 1 and major gas field developments in Nigeria and the Republic of Congo. Greenfield spending is set to outpace brownfield by 10% by 2030, reflecting a strong pipeline of new projects. As the world's largest producer of oil and gas and a leader in energy innovation, the U.S. offers advanced technologies, funding mechanisms and strategic expertise that can catalyze Africa's energy development. Houston, as the energy capital of the world, is uniquely positioned to host USAEF, providing access to over 4,700 energy companies, a thriving innovation ecosystem and a strategic network of investors eager to explore Africa's untapped potential. The event not only spotlights Africa's opportunities, but also underscores the role of U.S. stakeholders in driving sustainable energy growth on the continent. 'USAEF is not just an event – it's a gateway to the opportunities we showcase across Africa. By tapping into Houston's unmatched investment ecosystem, USAEF creates a unique pathway for stakeholders to connect, collaborate and channel their engagement into transformative partnerships at our Africa-based conferences. This event underscores our commitment to driving impactful investment and growth in Africa's energy future,' says James Chester, CEO, ECP. Distributed by APO Group on behalf of Energy Capital&Power.
