Watch: Trailer out for 'Big Bold Beautiful Journey', starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell
Sony Pictures has unveiled the trailer for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, a romantic fantasy film starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell. Directed by Kogonada, the film promises an imaginative take on love and time, described in the official logline as 'an imaginative tale of two strangers.' The ensemble cast includes Jodie Turner-Smith, Lily Rabe, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Hamish Linklater. Seth Reiss, known for penning The Menu, serves as the screenwriter. Kogonada, acclaimed for his previous work on Columbus, After Yang, and Apple TV+'s Pachinko, reunites with Farrell and Turner-Smith following their collaboration on After Yang. In a recent interview with Collider, Farrell said the film explores love through the lens of magical realism. 'It's kind of a love story, but not a very typical one,' he noted. 'It's grounded in a world we recognize, but veers into whimsical, fantastical places.' He also hinted that the story allows characters to revisit pivotal moments from their past, blending memory and fantasy in a unique narrative style. Behind the scenes, the film is produced by Dan Friedkin, Ryan Friedkin, Youree Henley, Seth Reiss, and Bradley Thomas, with executive producers including Ori Eisen, Gino Falsetto, Ilene Feldman, Paul Mezey, and Kogonada. Noah Simon joins as associate producer. This project marks Margot Robbie's first acting role since Barbie (2023). In the interim, she has focused on producing titles such as Saltburn, My Old Ass, and Borderline. She is set to star next in Emerald Fennell's adaptation of Wuthering Heights opposite Jacob Elordi. Farrell, meanwhile, recently earned a SAG Award for his portrayal of Oz Cobb in HBO's The Penguin. A Big Bold Beautiful Journey arrives in theaters on September 19, 2025.

Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell discover a new world in trailer for The Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Watch
Sony Pictures has just released the trailer for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, featuring stars Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell in the lead roles. The narrative has the two protagonists go through a series of doors that take them to a particular memory from their lives. Kogonada, known for films like Columbus (2017), After Yang (2021), and the series Pachinko (2022), will be at the helm of the project. The trailer starts with Sarah (Margot) and David (Colin) at a wedding, which both are attending alone, and two lonely people joining the celebration of a marriage seems to be a good starting point for their relationship as characters. Soon after the wedding, David is seen driving, and his GPS assistant asks him, 'David, would you like to go on a big, bold, beautiful journey?' to which he answers, 'Yes.' He then picks up Sarah, and the two of them begin this journey, knowing nothing of what lies ahead of them. Watch | Chris Hemsworth talks about legacy of Thor and his return in Marvel's Avengers Doomsday They start going through different doors together, soon realising that these are gateways to past memories. David makes a visit to his high school on the same day he got rejected by a girl he loved, while Sarah visits her mother from when she was sick and has since then passed away. The trailer seems to suggest that the doors don't take them to some random memories but take them to times which made an impact on their lives. Although, later on, David says, 'I want to go back to a time when I thought everything would work out for me,' so it's unclear whether they can control their destinations. A Big Bold Beautiful Journey seems to revolve around the theme of companionship and choosing to be happy in one's life. Although the film allows them to go into their past and maybe learn from it, David's last dialogue in the trailer is about accepting one's reality and sharing it with someone. He says, 'No matter who you are in your life, you just need someone to share it with.' Apart from Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, the cast of the film also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Hamish Linklater, Billy Magnussen, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith and Yuvi Hecth.
