Teen hurt after chased by strays

By: Azmie Lim, Ahmad Apong Text Size: The injured teenager. LAHAD DATU: A teen suffered injuries on his face as he fell upon being chased by a group of wild dogs on Monday (June 16). It was learnt that he was heading home in Kampung Sabah Baru from Lahad Datu town when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, the Beaufort District Council is urged to take immediate action to trap and remove stray dogs roaming around Kampung Brunei following incidents of aggressive behaviour. Village head Ag Tali Ismail shared an alarming incident involved a child who was chased and nearly bitten by a stray dog. Ag Tali expressed concern over the growing number of stray dogs in the village, warning that if left unchecked, the situation could worsen and disturb the peace of the community.
Advertisement 'There are fears of rabies transmission, which is extremely dangerous, especially for children,' he added. He said the dogs' frequent barking during the night and early morning hours had disrupted residents' rest. Ag Tali said while some villagers might consider killing the dogs, such actions would violate the law.
