Ex-TYT Ahmadshah laid to rest

Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said former Sabah Head of State Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah who passed away at age 79 on Tuesday night contributed immensely during his time as a civil servant. 'On behalf of my family and the State Government, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Tun. May his soul be blessed and placed among the righteous,' he said. The late Ahmadshah served as Head of State from 2003 to 2010. Prior to that, he held the position of Deputy State Secretary before retiring in December 2002. He also served in several other roles, including Director of State Civil Service, Head of the Internal Affairs and Research Division in the Chief Minister's Department and Secretary of the Sabah Islamic Religious Council. Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Seri Rosli Isa expressed his condolences to the family of the late Ahmadshah and prayed that his soul be blessed and placed among the faithful. Former Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who is also the president of Parti Warisan Sabah, expressed his deep sadness over the passing of Tun Ahmadshah and extended his condolences to the family. His work in public service and education was immense and will continue to be remembered,' he said. Also present to pay their final respects were former Head of State Tun (Dr) Juhar Mahiruddin, Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya, Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim, State Secretary Datuk Seri Sr Safar Untong and other dignitaries. The final tribute ceremony was held at the State Mosque, here, Wednesday. His remains were taken to the Islamic Cemetery at Kampung Inanam Laut and laid to rest beside his wife Toh Puan Dayang Masuyah Awang Japar, who passed away in 2020. Born in Kampung Inanam on Dec. 9 1946, he is survived by four children. Tun Musa pays tribute to Tun Ahmadshah's legacy, exemplary public service

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's former Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah, who passed away at a private hospital, here last night, carried out his duties and responsibilities as the ninth Yang Dipertua Negeri and a civil servant with excellence and dedication. The Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah Tun Musa Aman said during his lifetime, Ahmadshah was known as a sincere, honest, and kind individual with a friendly nature who was well-liked by all. Tun Musa, who visited Ahmadshah's remains at the hospital last night, also expressed his condolences to the family and prayed that his soul would be blessed and placed among the righteous. 'His service and sacrifices for the state of Sabah will always be remembered by all levels of society here,' he said in a statement on his Facebook page today. Ahmadshah, 78, died at a private hospital here at 8.45 pm yesterday. His passing was confirmed by Sabah State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong in a statement. He was laid to rest at the Kampung Inanam Laut Muslim Cemetery at 2.30 pm today. Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah, former Sabah governor, dies at 78
KOTA KINABALU, May 21 — The Ninth Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah, died at a private hospital here at 8.45 pm last night. He was 78. Sabah State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong confirmed the news of his passing in a statement issued yesterday. 'The state government has declared a one-day official mourning period (tomorrow), during which the Sabah state flag will be flown at half-mast,' he said. Meanwhile, Ahmadshah's grandson Arfanshah Abdul Gafar called on the public to offer prayers and recite Surah Al-Fatihah for his late grandfather. 'Please recite Al-Fatihah for my grandfather, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Ahmadshah bin Abdullah, who passed away a short while ago at KPJ Hospital Kota Kinabalu. May he be placed among the faithful. Aamiin Ya Mujib,' he said in a Facebook post.
