Three deaths reported on first day of Senate Elections: NEA
Three people died during the first day of voting in Egypt's 2025 Senate elections, according to the National Elections Authority (NEA).
Judge Ahmed Bendary, the Authority's executive director, said on Monday that the deaths included the principal of Kafr Hamad School in Abu Kabir, Sharqia, who passed away while on duty.
A female voter in Fayoum and a polling station secretary in Sharqia also died of heart attacks, he added during a press conference held at the Authority's operations room.
Voting for the Senate elections is taking place over two days—Monday and Tuesday—with oversight from 9,500 judges drawn from the State Council and the Administrative Prosecution Authority.
The process is also being monitored by licensed media outlets and observer organisations accredited by the National Elections Authority.
Preliminary results are expected on 12 August. Runoff voting is scheduled for 25–26 August for Egyptians abroad, and 27–28 August inside Egypt.
Final results will be announced on 4 September.
