Rubu' Qarn launches parliamentary empowerment programmes
The initiative is part of the "Let's Summer" activities and aligns with the ninth parliamentary cycle (2025–2026), held under the theme Community Service Leadership. The aim is to strengthen members' leadership potential and prepare them for impactful future roles. Training programme to sharpen communication and decision-making The Rubu' Qarn Centre for Life Skills hosted a comprehensive two-day training led by Dr Ahmed Tahlak, Vice-Chairman of the Emirates Association for Management Consultants and Trainers. The sessions targeted 80 council members aged 13 to 16, focusing on public speaking, creative problem-solving, and confident decision-making. The first day featured a workshop titled The art of Public Speaking, which explored how speaking skills enhance social influence and drive positive change. It addressed public speaking anxiety, body language, storytelling techniques, and handling unexpected questions with confidence. Creative approaches to problem-solving and leadership On the second day, the session titled creative decision-making and problem-solving tackled the difference between creativity and innovation, applying them in everyday life, goal-setting, and evaluating solutions effectively. Participants engaged in hands-on activities to develop their critical and creative thinking, boosting their ability to lead and serve their communities. A long-term commitment to youth development The parliamentary empowerment programme will continue with over 40 specialised workshops covering life skills and parliamentary fundamentals. This initiative reflects Rubu' Qarn's ongoing commitment to embedding the values of consultation and teamwork, as expressed in the Quranic verse "and consult among themselves in affairs". The programme aims to equip young members with effective communication and leadership tools to contribute meaningfully to council sessions and to draft impactful recommendations—furthering the cycle's theme of Community Service is Leadership. This aligns with Sharjah's broader vision of raising capable youth leaders committed to building a sustainable future.

Dubai Community Contributions Establishment Charts Future of Humanitarian Work Through JOOD Retreat
Dubai Community Contributions Establishment (JOOD) has taken a significant step toward shaping the future of humanitarian efforts in the emirate, hosting its inaugural JOOD Retreat to align public and private sector roles under a unified vision of giving. Held in line with Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the UAE's Year of Community, the retreat brought together leaders from government, business, and the non-profit sector to build a comprehensive roadmap for community contributions. The event focused on redefining how social impact is delivered, measured, and sustained. Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority, highlighted the retreat as a strategic move to build a future-ready, inclusive model of social giving rooted in Dubai's values. 'We are creating a model that extends beyond money—it includes time, knowledge, and skills,' she said. Dr. Ahmed Tahlak of Tarahum Charity Foundation called for clear metrics to assess social and economic impact, while education philanthropist Sunny Varkey emphasised the importance of contribution over achievement, praising Dubai's commitment to humanitarian excellence. Structured around four pillars—sustainability, engagement, impact, and innovation—the retreat featured thematic dialogues, workshops, and real-life storytelling sessions. Discussions explored how to scale impact through digital tools, cross-sector collaboration, and innovative partnerships. Key outcomes included the adoption of a unified framework for social responsibility across sectors and a strategy for managing financial and non-financial resources to achieve long-term, measurable outcomes. Ahmed Darwish Al-Muhairi, Vice Chairman of the JOOD Board of Trustees, said the retreat has set the stage for JOOD to become a global benchmark in community development. By aligning strategy with action, JOOD aims to strengthen Dubai's leadership in sustainable giving and build a resilient ecosystem of empowered communities. News Source: Emirates News Agency
