Egypt's Healthcare Authority, Arab Emergency Union discuss strategic cooperation
Head of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) Ahmed al-Sobky had talks with Advisor Mishaal bin Al-Daihani, Chairman of the Arab Union for Emergency and Disaster Management, to prepare for a cooperation protocol focused on health emergencies and disaster response. The agreement will include joint training, crisis management, and business continuity, with certified programs for EHA staff and participants from other Arab countries. EHA will offer its field hospitals as training sites. The two sides also discussed collaboration in reconstruction, public awareness campaigns, and sharing Egypt's health system experience across the region. For his part, al-Sobky said that the partnership reflects Egypt's direction toward Arab cooperation in health and emergency preparedness. Meanwhile, Al Daihani praised Egypt's experience and confirmed plans for field-based programs and certified training across the Arab region.

Upper Egypt at heart of development plans
Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project Ahmed al-Sobky stated that the expansion of the comprehensive health insurance umbrella in Aswan embodies the vision of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in building the Egyptian human being. He emphasized that Upper Egypt is at the heart of health development plans, noting that the authority's facilities in the governorate reflect remarkable progress in line with international standards, placing the citizen as a top priority. The General Authority for Healthcare received European Union Ambassador to Egypt and the Arab League Angelina Eichhorst and Chairperson of the National Council for Women Amal Ammar and Governor of Aswan Ismail Kamal during their visit to inspect several hospitals affiliated with the authority in Aswan Governorate, most notably Al Masalla Specialized Hospital. Sobky said that he is proud of the trust of international partners in the authority's capabilities, pointing out that the EU ambassador has praised the massive development in healthcare, which reflects Egypt's success in this vital area and confirms that the authority has become a model to be followed both locally and internationally. He also expressed pride in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, signed on March 17, 2024, between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. He stressed that it is considered a strong launch pad to boost cooperation in the health sector and enhance development and sustainability efforts, adding that the authority is steadily moving towards achieving universal health coverage in accordance with the highest global standards. Sobky concluded his statements by emphasizing that Aswan Governorate is receiving special attention as part of the authority's plan to expand the provision of advanced healthcare services, in implementation of the political leadership's directives to achieve health equity and equal opportunities in all governorates, where universal health insurance is being implemented. For her part, Eichhorst expressed her admiration for the level of healthcare in Aswan, describing it as 'impressive,' confirming that what she witnessed inside the healthcare authority's hospitals on the ground proves the Egyptian state's commitment to improving citizens' lives and advancing public services. She added that the EU's support for Egypt in the healthcare sector comes within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership, noting that Egypt is one of the largest countries enjoying the EU's trust and support, which reflects the importance of this joint cooperation.

Egypt, Sweden discuss boosting cooperation in healthcare domains
CAIRO, April 19 (MENA) – Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority Ahmed al-Sobky conferred with Swedish Ambassador to Egypt Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt on horizons of cooperation and boosting partnership in the fields of healthcare between both sides. The meeting tackled mechanisms to implement twinship program with Karolinska Institute of Sweden, one of the most prominent international medical and academic institutions with an aim to exchange medical expertise under the umbrella of HUB program for international twinship that was launched by the authority to contribute to transferring and localizing international health examples in Egypt and benefiting from the advanced Swedish expertise in this field. During the meeting, Sobky lauded the efforts of former Swedish ambassador Håkan Emsgård to support health cooperation track between Egypt and Sweden. Sobky asserted the importance of fruitful partnership with the Swedish side in the fields of green transformation of hospitals, digital solutions, developing training programs in addition to cooperation with AstraZeneca company in supporting cancer patients and improving their treatment results. The authority aims at transferring advanced Swedish health system to Egypt via strategic partnership, Sobky said. He added that the Egyptian market has promising opportunities for investment in the sector of healthcare to support promoting Egyptian-Swedish relations within the framework of partnership between Egypt and the EU to achieve sustainable developmental and investment goals. Meanwhile, Juhlin-Dannfelt lauded Egypt's healthcare efforts, especially its humanitarian role in treating and supporting the Sudanese brethren. (MENA)
