Labour Ministry Undersecretary Meets Oman Anti-Human Trafficking Committee Delegation
Manila: Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, met with Dr. Ahmed bin Talib Al Jabri, Deputy Chairman of Oman's National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, and his accompanying delegation. The undersecretary reviewed Bahrain's labour legislation, which aligns with human rights principles and international labour standards, and highlighted the ministry's efforts to support national initiatives to combat human trafficking. According to Bahrain News Agency, he emphasised Bahrain's commitment to further developing human rights frameworks, particularly in safeguarding workers' rights without discrimination. He also noted the measures Bahrain has implemented to combat human trafficking, which have been commended by international organisations, and emphasised the importance of sharing successful experiences in the labour sector, especially among GCC countries. Dr. Al Jabri commended the Kingdom's progress in developing local legislation and measures to comb at human trafficking and improve the labour environment. He called for enhanced cooperation between the two countries in this field.

LMRA CEO Receives Omani Delegation to Discuss Anti-Human Trafficking Efforts
Manama: Nibras Talib, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, received an Omani delegation led by Dr. Ahmed bin Talib Al Jabri, Deputy Chairman of Oman's National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking. The meeting reviewed Bahrain's efforts in combating human trafficking and enhancing the labour environment to support market stability. According to Bahrain News Agency, the CEO highlighted the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Bahrain and Oman during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's state visit to Oman. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in anti-trafficking efforts, enhance national capacities through knowledge exchange, and coordinate training programmes. He outlined Bahrain's initiatives, including introducing International Bank Account Numbers (IBAN) for expatriate workers, developing the Wage Protection System, and establishing the National Referral System, which links government and non-government entities to streamline anti-trafficking efforts. The Omani delegation toured the Expat Protection Centre, the first comprehensive facility of its kind in the Middle East, offering preventive, legal, and shelter services for trafficking victims. They also visited the Regional Training Centre for capacity-building on anti-human trafficking. The CEO emphasised Bahrain's readiness to share expertise, provide training, and support Oman and other Gulf countries in combating human trafficking. The Omani delegation commended Bahrain's achievements and expressed interest in further cooperation and knowledge exchange.
