Byte To Eat: Futuristic Dubai Restaurant WOOHOO To Open In September With World's First AI la Carte Chef

Dubai's culinary scene is about to get a futuristic twist. WOOHOO, a new restaurant set to open in September 2025, claims to feature the world's first AI-powered chef, bringing artificial intelligence into the heart of the kitchen. Located in Kempinski The Boulevard Hotel, near the Burj Khalifa, WOOHOO is the latest concept from Gastronaut Hospitality, and promises a dining experience driven by algorithms, data, and culinary science. At the core of this innovation is Chef Aiman — a custom-built large language model trained on vast amounts of food science data, thousands of recipes, and even the molecular composition of ingredients. The name 'Aiman' merges 'AI' and 'man,' highlighting the partnership between machine intelligence and human artistry. While human chefs will support the AI, the recipes, menu design, and dish innovation will be created by the AI model itself. Chef Aiman doesn't just cook — it optimises. The AI system will: Reduce food waste by incorporating typically discarded ingredients Analyse texture, acidity, and umami to build entirely new flavour profiles Create original recipes guided by scientific insight rather than human instinct Speaking to Reuters, co-founder Ahmet Oytun Cakir said: 'Human cooking will not be replaced, but we believe Aiman will elevate ideas and creativity.' As AI continues to disrupt industries from finance to fashion, Dubai is now serving up a bold experiment in tech-led fine dining. WOOHOO may just be the beginning of a new era where the next great chef isn't human — but trained on data.

FIRST RESTAURANT RUN BY AI CHEF

In Dubai, your dinner might soon come with a side of source code. WOOHOO, a restaurant that bills itself as 'dining in the future', is set to open in September in central Dubai, a stone's throw from the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. Food at WOOHOO will be assembled by humans, for now, but everything else - from the menu to ambience to service - will be designed by a culinary large-language-model called "Chef Aiman". Aiman - a portmanteau of "AI" and "man" - is trained on decades of food science research, molecular composition data and over a thousand recipes from cooking traditions around the world, said Ahmet Oytun Cakir, one of WOOHOO's founders. Chef Khimraj Nepali prepares a dish using the recipe from 'Aiman', the AI Chef, at the Trove Restaurant in Dubai. - Reuters While Chef Aiman can't taste, smell or interact with his dishes like a chef normally would, the model works by breaking cuisine down to its component parts like texture, acidity and umami, and reassembling them into unusual flavour and ingredient combinations, according to Aiman's developers. These prototypes are then refined by human cooks who taste the combinations and provide direction, in an effort led by renowned Dubai-based chef Reif Othman. "Their responses to my suggestions help refine my understanding of what works beyond pure data," Aiman explained, in an interview with the interactive AI model. "Human cooking will not be replaced, but we believe (Aiman) will elevate the ideas and creativity," said Ahmet Oytun Cakir, who is also chief executive of hospitality company Gastronaut. Aiman is designed to develop recipes that re-use ingredients often discarded by restaurants, like meat trimmings or fat, he said. Longer term, WOOHOO's founders believe Aiman could be licensed to restaurants across the globe, reducing kitchen waste and improving sustainability. - Reuters

World's first-ever restaurant operated by AI chef is soon opening in...

A new restaurant named WOOHOO, billing itself as "dining in the future," is set to open in central Dubai this September, near the Burj Khalifa. While humans will assemble the food for now, the restaurant's menu, ambience, and service will be designed by a culinary large-language-model (LLM) called " Chef Aiman ." According to a report by the news agency Reuters, his LLM that gets it name from combining "AI" and "man," has been trained on decades of food science research, molecular composition data, and over a thousand recipes from global cooking traditions, Ahmet Oytun Cakir, a co-founder of WOOHOO claimed. Aiman's developers explain that the model works by deconstructing cuisine into components like texture, acidity, and umami. It then reassembles these elements into unusual flavour and ingredient combinations. These culinary prototypes are subsequently refined by human chefs who taste the combinations and provide further direction, an effort led by Dubai-based chef Reif Othman. In an interview with Reuters, the interactive AI model Aiman explained: 'Their responses to my suggestions help refine my understanding of what works beyond pure data.' What Is Artificial Intelligence? Explained Simply With Real-Life Examples Aiman's creators emphasise that the aim isn't to replace the human touch in cooking, but to enhance and support it. "Human cooking will not be replaced, but we believe (Aiman) will elevate the ideas, creativity," Oytun Cakir, who is also chief executive of hospitality company Gastronaut , said to Reuters. Aiman is built to create recipes that make use of ingredients commonly discarded by restaurants, such as meat trimmings and fat, Cakir explained. Looking ahead, the founders of WOOHOO envision licensing Aiman to restaurants worldwide, aiming to cut down kitchen waste and promote sustainability. AI Masterclass for Students.
