Toxic Avenger We have been following the Ahoy Comics adaptation of Troma Entertainment's The Toxic Avenger since we had the opportunity to discuss Ahoy's upcoming projects with EIC Tom Peyer back in March 2024. Since that time, Ahoy has embraced the cult-classic hero with numerous titles. Bringing the character to new audiences while never forgetting those who have been following 'Toxie' since the original film in 1984. 'The Toxic Mess Summer' In 2025, they partnered with Troma Entertainment to launch the 'Toxic Mess Summer,' which is now in full swing. It kicked off in April with the release of the Troma team revival, THE TOXIC AVENGER (tpb), in bookstores. May brought the creator-filled TOXIC AVENGER PINUP SPECIAL, followed by June's ambitious AHOY mini-series, TOXIE TEAM-UP, where Toxie mingles with characters from other beloved AHOY titles. In July, the excitement continued with the debut of THE TOXIC AVENGER COMICS #1, marking the start of a brand-new ongoing series in comic shops. And if that wasn't enough, there was the Toxic Crusaders beat 'em up videogame from Retroware… All in conjunction with the highly anticipated Cineverse theatrical release of The Toxic Avenger film starring Peter Dinklage as Toxie on Labor Day weekend! But that's not all…! The Toxic Crusaders This fall, Ahoy continues the 'Toxic' fun with the rebirth of the greatest and grossest animated-series sensation of all time: TOXIC CRUSADERS. An all-new limited comic book series coming this September featuring the Toxic Avenger of Troma Entertainment fame alongside fellow mutants No-Zone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, and the all-new character Fungirl. The five-issue series from acclaimed Syracuse-based comic book publisher AHOY Comics will be written by THE NIB founder and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Matt Bors — whose recent revival of the Toxic Avenger in comics received widespread acclaim — and feature art by debut talent Tristan Wright. The Toxic Avenger When Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman first released their 1984 film The Toxic Avenger, it was received with mixed reviews. However, over time, their story about a picked-on nerd who becomes a mutated superhero after falling into a drum of toxic waste evolved into a cult classic and a media franchise. From film to television, to animated shows, video games, and even a musical. The Toxic Avenger – Ahoy Style So, it came as no surprise when the talented and humor-laden creators at Ahoy Comics brought the character to their pages in 2024, under the creative guidance of Matt Bors and Fred Harper. Now, Ahoy is teaming up 'Toxie' with some of its fan-favorite AHOY titles in what can only be described as classic Ahoy. The characters include Jesus Christ (from Russell and Pace's controversial work, 'SECOND COMING'), Acid Chimp (from Russell, Bryce Ingman, and Peter Krause's absurdly hilarious comic, 'MY BAD'), Dragonflyman and Stinger (from Tom Peyer and Jamal Igle's multiversal saga, 'THE WRONG EARTH'), as well as Swamp Cop and Schitt (from Bors and Ben Clarkson's satirical hit, 'JUSTICE WARRIORS').
