The Auburn Tigers host the Central Connecticut Blue Devils in the opening round of the Auburn Regional on Friday night from Plainsman Park.
Friday's matchup will put the No. 4 overall seeded Tigers against Central Connecticut, the No. 4 seed of the Auburn Regional. Auburn earned the No. 4 national seed with a 38-18 record and a 17-13 mark against SEC competition. Auburn finished the regular season with the nation's toughest schedule and won 20 games against teams in quadrant 1 and quadrant 2 during the season.
Central Connecticut reached postseason play by winning the Northeast Conference Tournament, defeating tournament favorite Long Island, 6-5 in the final game last Sunday. The Blue Devils are sound offensively with a conference-leading batting average (.331), slugging percentage (.504), and RBI (373). Central Connecticut also has a valuable weapon in Aidan Redahan, who holds the nation's highest batting average at .460 and leads the NEC with 86 hits and 69 RBI.

Rain and threats of thunderstorms in the Auburn area forced game one between NC State and Stetson to begin two hours and 10 minutes after its original 1 p.m. CT start time, thus delaying the start time for Auburn vs. Central Connecticut.

The Stetson Hatters lead the NC State Wolfpack, 8-0 in the 5th inning of game one of the Auburn Regional. The Hatters set the tone early by scoring seven runs in the 1st inning and chasing Wolfpack ace Dom Fritton after 1/3 of an inning, where he allowed six runs on two hits with three walks. Stetson added to its lead to 8-0 in the 5th inning on an RBI single by Salvador Alvarez.
The winner of Stetson vs. NC State will face the winner of Auburn vs. Central Connecticut on Saturday at 8 p.m. CT, while the loser will play the loser of tonight's game at 2 p.m. CT in an elimination game.
