Within just three weeks of release, the film has become the ninth highest-grossing movie in Japan's history. Now, as it prepares for its international rollout, the big question looms: can it dethrone The Mugen Train, the current king of the Demon Slayer franchise, at the worldwide box office? Demon Slayer: Mugen Train's unmatched success remains unparalleled Demon Slayer: Mugen Train set the bar sky-high when it earned $386.48 million in Japan alone. Globally, it pulled in a staggering $506 million, a feat even more impressive given that it was released during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Its cultural impact and box office power remain unmatched, so far. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle's current box office run Released in Japan on July 18, 2025, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 – Akaza Returns has already amassed $130.8 million (¥19.4 billion) in just three weeks. Despite facing competition from titles like The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Tokyo MER: Nankai Mission, and Kokuho, it remains the clear audience favourite. Global release plan for Demon Slayer Infinity Castle The international rollout kicked off on August 8 in Taiwan, with Hong Kong, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Singapore joining on August 14. Indonesia, Cambodia, and Vietnam follow on August 15, while the Philippines will get it on August 20 and South Korea on August 22. The US and other major markets like India will see a September release, a crucial phase for boosting global numbers. The final battle ignites 🔥 Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle premieres September 12 only in theatres! [ THEME SONGS ]🎵 'A World Where the Sun Never Rises' by Aimer 🎵'Shine in the Cruel Night' by LiSA How much more does Demon Slayer Infinity Castle need to surpass Mugen Train? To surpass The Mugen Train's worldwide record, Demon Slayer Infinity Castle must hit at least $506 million. With $130.8 million already earned, it still requires around $375.2 million, meaning a growth of nearly 286% from both domestic and international markets. Is it possible for Demon Slayer Infinity Castle to break Mugen Train's record? Given the explosive fan interest, stellar word-of-mouth, and upcoming global release in major box office territories, Demon Slayer Infinity Castle has the momentum it needs. However, matching or beating The Mugen Train will demand sustained audience engagement and repeat viewings worldwide.

Aimer's "A World Where the Sun Never Rises" features lyrics by Hikaru Kondo, the general producer of the "Demon Slayer" anime at ufotable. Go Shiina, who composed the background music for the anime, handled the music and arrangement. This majestic theme combines a rich, grand orchestra with Aimer's powerful vocals. Meanwhile, LiSA's "Shine in the Cruel Night" was composed and written by Yuki Kajiura, also known for her background music in the "Demon Slayer" anime. This powerful track, another collaboration between LiSA and Yuki Kajiura, creates a grand and dynamic world view, echoing their previous successful theme songs for the series. Artist and creator comments were released alongside the singles. Comments from Artists and Creators Aimer's Comment: This song was lovingly entrusted to me by Go Shiina-san and Hikaru Kondo-san, who have been deeply involved with the anime "Demon Slayer." I sang with my own "total concentration," hoping my song could support the destiny of those who transform their individual sorrows into strength as they leap into the final phase. I hope this song reaches you, who are still fighting in a "world where the sun never rises." Go Shiina's Comment: This song came to life with the invaluable support of many, led by Aimer-san, and including lyricists, arrangers, performers, engineers, and staff. Witnessing Aimer-san's deeply emotional vocal recording alongside the visuals ignited my fighting spirit, compelling me to share this song without delay. Immerse yourself in Aimer-san's multifaceted voice, featuring up to 12 vocal layers. Her range, from the lowest to the highest notes, offers a kaleidoscope of expression. Additionally, I hope you enjoy discovering the various "Demon Slayer" themes woven throughout the song. LiSA's Comment: I am on my way to "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle" alongside Yuki Kajiura-san, who has graced us with numerous songs for "Demon Slayer." To everyone who is fighting: I sang with prayers and wishes. This is "Shine in the Cruel Night." Yuki Kajiura's Comment: It is a profound honor to have co-created the theme song for "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle" with LiSA-san. Given how deeply this song is connected to the story, we worked meticulously to ensure its alignment with the narrative while also crafting a piece that LiSA-san could deliver with immense power and emotion. 'I flew Boeing planes for 40 years - Air India tragedy was bound to happen'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Harrowing footage of the Air India tragedy this week showed the Boeing 787 Dreamliner smashing into the ground before erupting into a fireball shortly after takeoff. It was bound for Gartwick, London, after taking off in Ahmedabad, India, with 242 on board. One person, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, survived. Ross Aimer, a pilot for top airlines including United Airlines from 1964 to 2004, says he's not surprised by the crash given recent issues with the 787, reports The Express. Aimer said: "I'm shocked, but knowing some of the issues with the 787, I'm not that surprised. It was bound to happen. It's way too early to speculate. There's no way we know enough to even think about what may have gone wrong, but I saw the initial video of the takeoff. "The aircraft was full of fuel and bound to Gatwick. It's a tragedy, but we have no idea what may have caused the airplane to crash. Looks like the weather may not have been an issue because you probably saw the video, it's in clear skies. The only thing I could think of is possibly an engine failure, because the aircraft sinks on takeoff. It's at its highest gross weight at that time." It is the first crash involving the model since its introduction in 2011, but there have been issues that have forced some flights to be grounded. The US safety regulator, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has had to investigate a number of concerns over the years, reports the Guardian. It also comes after Boeing was rocked by two crashes involving its 737 Max model in Indonesia and Ethiopia in 2018 and 2019. Aimer, who lives in California, said he suspects authorities will be considering grounding the plane. He added: "It looks to me like that aircraft basically sank into the ground. I don't know about the flaps, but the 787 is perhaps the most advanced technology available at this moment. "Air India may have had the Rolls-Royce Trent engine option on it. There was some controversy on that engine itself. It's called the Trent engine, and it had been grounded for a while. It had issues with corrosion and cracks within the engine. So it's not only the aircraft itself, it's a possibility that there was an engine issue too. I'm sure the authorities will look into this. In the past we've had engines and aircraft grounded, and I'm sure if they find out that there are any issues to be looked at, they will think about grounding the airplane." Authorities said there were 159 Indian nationals on the plane, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese and one Canadian. The only remaining survivor was a British man who lives in London. Asked what would be going through his mind if he was still an active pilot, Aimer said: "Like any pilot with some experience would do, I'd be extremely cautious. "But that's a normal way till we find out what exactly happened. To make a blanket statement that the aircraft is not safe would be irresponsible. But I'm not surprised, because we know there were a lot of problems with this aircraft, and they continue to have issues with manufacturing." He added: "I'm afraid so (people may lose confidence in aviation). I don't blame people being leery about aviation after all these crashes that are happening."
