Old Pakistan airport fire clip misrepresented as recent

"Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore, Pakistan is burning after a missile battery of Air Defence System exploded during installation," reads a Facebook post on April 26, 2025. "All Services have been suspended at Lahore airport & Pakistan Army has taken control," it went on to say, adding "14 Pakistani soldiers" died in the incident. It also shares a video showing a building filled with smoke as a crowd looks on, and Bengali-language text that largely repeats the false claim. The claim surfaced days after gunmen killed 26 people in an attack on tourists in Pahalgam in India-administered Kashmir on April 22, which New Delhi blames on its neighbour. Islamabad denies the charge (archived link). Four days of tense fighting broke out between the nuclear-armed foes in May -- claiming over 70 lives on both sides -- before they agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire (archived link). The false post was shared elsewhere on Facebook, with comments indicating some users believed the claim to be true. A comment reads, "This is only for the airport now, soon it will be for the whole of Pakistan." "Very well done, let it spread all over Pakistan now," reads another comment. But a reverse image search on Google using keyframes shows the video was uploaded to YouTube on May 9, 2024 (archived link). "Massive fire at Lahore Airport," the video's caption reads. "Investigation suggests that a short circuit was the cause of the fire." Further searches found the columns of smoke next to a sign in the false clip can also be seen at the 14th-second mark in a video report on the fire that Pakistani outlet Aaj TV published on the same day (archived link). Other Pakistani media outlets also reported on the fire at the time, saying a short circuit was to blame for the blaze (archived here and here). The state-owned Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported on April 26, 2025 that the Pakistan Airports Authority said there had been no incident of fire, and dismissed the claim as "baseless, false and misleading" (archived link). AFP has debunked misinformation spreading following the Kashmir attack here and here.

India Used AI During Operation Sindoor Against Pakistan | Vantage with Palki Sharma India Used AI During Operation Sindoor Against Pakistan | Vantage with Palki Sharma During Operation Sindoor, India heavily deployed Artificial Intelligence or AI against Pakistan. During Offensive missions, the Rafale jet used AI for optimal strikes on terror pads deep inside Pakistan. Meanwhile, India's Air Defence System also used AI to track and shoot down projectiles fired by Pakistan. This means India is most likely the first nation in the world to deploy AI on the battlefield. Meanwhile, India has announced a ₹50,000 crore package for the defence after Operation Sindoor. In visit to Adampur air base, PM Modi commends IAF personnel, ADS crew

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Adampur Air Force Station near Jalandhar, Punjab, on Tuesday and interacted with personnel at the base, including the crew of the Air Defence System (ADS), which played a crucial role during Operation Sindoor. 'Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation,' he posted afterwards on X. Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) May 13, 2025 Air Force sources say the PM congratulated the IAF personnel for their performance in the strikes carried out on terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK. The Air Defence System team also received special praise for having kept the Pakistan Air Force aircraft at bay and neutralising the drone threat. Adampur is one of the frontline air bases of the IAF in Punjab and is home to several fighter squadrons. Addressing the nation on Monday night, Modi had praised India's air defence system, saying, 'The world saw how their drones and missiles were blown away in front of our strong air defence system. Pakistan prepared for a border attack, but we attacked them on the chest. Our missiles and drones damaged the Pakistan air bases it was so proud of.'

Donald Trump says India and Pakistan have agreed to full and immediate ceasefire

India-Pakistan conflict: Amid India-Pakistan's escalating tensions, US President Donald Trump said that India and Pakistan have agreed to full and immediate ceasefire. The US President had stated on X that India and Pakistan have agreed to a 'FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.' Donald Trump's post comes after the India-Pakistan conflict escalated on Friday night, after Pakistan launched a fresh attack on India. Air sirens were sounded, and blackouts were enforced in multiple regions including Jammu, Samba, Hoshiarpur, among others. In response to "Pakistan's blatant escalation" — as termed by the Indian army — India on Saturday, launched missiles and drones at four airbases in Pakistan's Islamabad, reported ANI, citing sources. The Indian Army said it also spotted multiple Pakistani armed drones flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar at 5 am today, which the India's Air Defence System destroyed after engaging with. Roughly two days after series of attacks from both the Indian and Pakistani side, the two nations have decided to stop firing and military action on land and in the air from 5 pm today, India's Foreign Secretary Vikrim Misri said on Saturday. There is, however, no decision to hold talks on any other issue at any other place, according to sources on the ceasefire decision. "The DGMO (Director General of Military Operations) of Pakistan called DGMO of India at 15.35 hours earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea with effect from 1700 hours IST," said foreign secretary Vikram Misri. Sometime after Donald Trump posted about the ceasefire deal, US Secretary Marco Rubio also posted that the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire, and will start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site. Marco Rubio also stated that over the past 48 hours, he and US Vice President JD Vance had engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik.
