Blue Angels visit Penn State Health Children's Hospital
HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM)– Patients at Penn State Health Children's Hospital got to witness an aerial spectacle Friday, courtesy of the United States Navy Blue Angels. According to a spokesperson from Penn State Health, members of the Blue Angels did a flyby past the Children's Hospital, and even touched down to meet with young patients, sign autographs, and take photos. Subscribe Now Penn State Health says Life Lion is on duty this weekend at the Air Dot Show Central Pennsylvania at the Harrisburg International Airport, but they aren't just there for safety reasons. While they will be providing emergency medical support if necessary, Life Lion will also be doing a demonstration of the Airbus H155 Helicopter, Penn State Health says. Local flight nurse to fly with Blue Angels at Air Dot Show Central Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– A local flight nurse with Life Lion Critical Care Transport will fly with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels at the Air Dot Show Central Pennsylvania later this month. Flight nurse Heather Heisley was selected to fly with the Blue Angels as a part of their 'Key Influencer' program that honors locals, the Air Dot Show said. Heisley will ride in the back seat of an F/A-18 Super Hornet for 45 minutes on May 23, experiencing loops, rolls, and turns thousands of feet above the ground. Close Thanks for signing up! I'm sure I will remember this experience forever.' The Air Dot Show said Heisley has worked as a nurse for 29 years, and primarily focuses on caring for children from premature infants to young adults. PSP: Fleeing driver on US 22 nearly hits, pins Pennsylvania State Troopers
DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Two State Troopers were nearly struck and pinned by a fleeing driver in a Dauphin County parking lot, according to court documents. State Police out of Harrisburg say they saw Joseph Hoffman driving a black 2011 Toyota RAV4 at a high rate of speed on US 22 near the Jonestown Road intersection in West Hanover Township on April 25, around 8:42 a.m. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Troopers say they tried to pull Hoffman over, but he allegedly passed another vehicle and sped away. Hoffman then turned into the Skyline Family Restaurant parking lot and drove over the grassy median divider into the Comfort Inn & Suites parking lot. Court docs show he then tried to get back onto US 22 but backed up into a parked truck. Troopers pulled into the lot as Hoffman was reversing and got out to try to take him into custody. As they got to Hoffman's vehicle, State Police say he reversed and then accelerated into the State Police vehicle, causing damage to the front of it. According to court documents, one Trooper had to dive out of the way to avoid being hit by Hoffman, while the other Trooper was nearly pinned between Hoffman's RAV4 and the parked truck. Local flight nurse to fly with Blue Angels at Air Dot Show Central Pennsylvania Hoffman faces numerous felony charges of aggravated assault and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer. He also faces misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person and summary charges for traffic violations. He was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Hanif L. Johnson Sr. on Sunday, May 11, and he was placed in Dauphin County Prison with bail set at $10,000, court records show. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 27. Berks native to lead F-16 Viper Demonstration Team at Harrisburg air show
(WHTM) — Later this month will mark a special homecoming for a western Berks man has he leads a U.S. Air Force demonstration team over the skies of central Pennsylvania. U.S. Air Force Maj. Taylor Hiester was tapped to lead the F-16 Viper Demonstration Team in 2024, leading a team of nine hand-selected and highly trained specialists, the Air Force says. He's been an F-16 pilot since 2017, eventually becoming an instructor pilot at Shaw Air Force Base near Sumter, South Carolina. He grew up in Robesonia and graduated from Conrad Weiser High School and his first flying lesson was nearby at Reading Regional Airport in Bern Township. 'As a kid who grew up learning to fly at the Reading Airport, dreaming to fly the F-16, it's surreal to have the opportunity to serve as the Air Force's F-16 demonstration pilot and perform for the place and the people that I call home,' said Hiester. On May 24 and 25, he will lead the demonstration team, piloting the F-16 Viper over Harrisburg International Airport in Middletown for the 2025 Air Dot Show Central Pennsylvania.
