Sneaker prices likely to surge following global tariffs
The impact of Trump's tariffs may mean higher sneaker prices.
New shoes don't typically come out of the box dirty, but Nike is changing that with an upcoming sneaker release.
The Beaverton, Oregon-headquartered footwear company gave a first look at the dotSWOOSH x Nike Air Force 1 Low 'Dirty Triple White" on April 30.
"The more you wear it, the cleaner and crispier it becomes. It's that simple," dotSWOOSH, described as "Nike's home for gaming," wrote in an Instagram post.
Based on the Instagram post and reports from Complex and Sneaker News, the pre-dirtied shoes will become cleaner the more a person wears them. Nike told Complex just this, saying that pair has scratch-away panels that will eventually reveal a cleaner version of the sneaker through wear as "a way to flip the typical life cycle."
"Smoked white AF1s. You see them everywhere. Dirty, creased, scuffed—each pair is a living canvas for the person wearing them. White AF1s are a time portal. We love that about them," Nike said in a news release. "But what if we told that story backwards?"
According to Nike, the sneaker will feature a footprint illustration stamped on the digitally printed sockliner, "celebrating grooves you put into your own shoes." Aside from the classic Air Force 1 laces, also included in the shoe box will be UV laces that will wear with light exposure, "creating a unique vintage look," the company said.
When do the dirty Nike Air Force 1s release?
The dirty Air Force 1s will release on May 7 via Nike's SNKRS app, dotSWOOSH announced in an X post on May 1. The shoes will cost $130 and come in Men's sizes 3.5-14, according to dotSWOOSH.
"You think you know AF1. But you're only (the) scratching the surface," dotSWOOSH's X post reads.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low "Dirty Triple White" will feature "scratch-away textures that reveal an increasingly beautiful AF1," dotSWOOSH said in the social media post. The sneaker will release alongside a "Triple Triple Black" Air Force 1 Low, which together make up the "Smoke and Mirrors" pack.
The all-black Air Force 1 also has scratch-away textures, but instead, a deeper, richer black hue is revealed through wear. Both pairs of sneakers will come with a toothbrush.
"Yeah, we've seen the memes. We know what you say about us. So we're changing the conversation. The more you grind, the more you gain," dotSWOOSH said about the all-black Air Force 1.

Social media reacts to dirty Nike Air Force 1s
Complex actually got its hands on the sneakers early, explaining in an Instagram post that the shoe "looks like it's been stomped out and worn for months."
"Nike is crazy for this one," the social media post reads. "The sneaker looks filthy brand new out of the box."
Others have chimed in online to discuss the pre-dirtied sneaker.
