UAE: Trump announces Etihad to buy 28 new aircraft in $14.5 billion Boeing-GE deal

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced deals totalling over $200 billion between the US and the UAE, including a $14.5 billion commitment between Boeing, GE Aerospace, and Etihad Airways, the White House said. The White House said Boeing and GE had received a commitment from Etihad Airways to invest $14.5 billion to buy 28 American-made Boeing 787 and 777X aircraft powered by GE engines. Etihad did not immediately respond to a request for comment. GE and Boeing did not comment. "With the inclusion of the next-generation 777X in its fleet plan, the investment deepens the longstanding commercial aviation partnership between the UAE and the United States, fuelling American manufacturing, driving exports," the White House said. Etihad has a fleet of around 100 aircraft. Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves said last month that Etihad planned to add 20 to 22 new planes this year, as it aims to expand its fleet to more than 170 planes by 2030 and boost Abu Dhabi's economic diversification strategy. Etihad, which is owned by Abu Dhabi's $225 billion wealth fund ADQ, has been through a multi-year restructuring and management shake-up, but has expanded under Neves. He said that 10 of the new aircraft this year would be Airbus A321LRs, which the carrier launched on Monday and will start operating in August. The remainder include six Airbus A350s and four Boeing 787s. On Wednesday, Boeing landed its biggest deal for widebody airplanes when state carrier Qatar Airways placed firm orders during Trump's visit to the Gulf Arab country for 160 jetliners plus options to buy 50 more worth $96 billion, according to the White House.

Trump announces more than $200bn of deals between US and UAE

Donald Trump has announced deals totaling more than $200bn between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, including a $14.5bn commitment among Boeing, GE Aerospace and Etihad Airways, as he pledged to strengthen ties between the US and the Gulf state during a multiday trip to the Middle East. The White House said on Thursday that Boeing and GE had received a commitment from Etihad Airways to invest $14.5bn to buy 28 US-made Boeing 787 and 777X aircraft powered by GE engines. 'With the inclusion of the next-generation 777X in its fleet plan, the investment deepens the longstanding commercial aviation partnership between the UAE and the United States, fueling American manufacturing, driving exports,' the White House said. Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO of Etihad, said last month that the airline planned to add 20 to 22 new planes to its fleet of roughly 100 aircraft this year, as it aims to expand to more than 170 planes by 2030 and boost Abu Dhabi's economic diversification strategy. Etihad, which is owned by Abu Dhabi's $225bn wealth fund ADQ, has been through a multiyear restructuring and management shake-up, but has expanded under Neves. Related: Trump says planned gift of luxury plane from Qatar is a very 'transparent' deal He said that 10 of the new aircraft this year would be Airbus A321LRs, which the carrier launched on Monday and will start operating in August. The remainder include six Airbus A350s and four Boeing 787s. The news follows a Wednesday announcement that Boeing had landed its largest-ever deal for wide-body airplanes, after securing an order for $96bn worth of Boeing jets from Qatar. The deal-making comes as the US president nears the ends of his multiday tour in the Middle East. Controversy has dogged the visit after the president announced earlier this week that he planned to accept a $400m luxury jumbo jet from the government of Qatar, raising numerous ethical concerns. Trump has since doubled down on his plans to accept the airplane as the new Air Force One, and eventually transfer it to his presidential library. 'We're the United States of America. I believe we should have the most impressive plane,' he said on Wednesday. Sign in to access your portfolio

Trump Strikes $14.5B Jet Deal in UAE--Boeing and GE Soar Back Into the Spotlight

Boeing (NYSE:BA) just landed another heavyweight orderand this time, it's from the UAE. During Donald Trump's high-profile visit to Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways committed $14.5 billion for 28 new Boeing 787 and 777X aircraft powered by GE engines. The aircraft are expected to start arriving in 2028. This comes as part of a broader $200 billion U.S.-UAE economic push, with Trump once again playing dealmaker-in-chief in the Gulf. While Boeing and GE declined to comment, the White House positioned the deal as a strategic win for American manufacturing and exports. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 7 Warning Signs with BA. The timing couldn't be better for Etihad. The airline is accelerating fleet expansion under CEO Antonoaldo Neves, aiming to scale beyond 170 aircraft by 2030. This year alone, Etihad plans to add up to 22 new jets, including Airbus A321LRs and A350s. But the fresh Boeing order signals a long-haul focusand could be a critical piece of Abu Dhabi's broader economic diversification strategy. Backed by ADQ's $225 billion war chest, Etihad's fleet upgrades are more than operationalthey're geopolitical. This week's deal also adds to Boeing's Gulf rebound story. Just days earlier, Qatar Airways signed a $96 billion agreement for 160 Boeing jets. Boeing stock has rallied over 50% since April lows, helped by easing trade pressures and a rebound in international demand. With the 777X now firmly back in the conversation and Gulf buyers stepping up, Boeing could be regaining altitude in wide-body aviationand GE might just ride that tailwind too. Trump announces over $200 billion in US-UAE deals; Etihad orders 28 Boeing jets

US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced a series of business deals worth more than $200 billion between American companies and the United Arab Emirates, marking a major milestone in trade relations between the two nations. The agreement confirmed a $14.5 billion deal involving US aviation giants Boeing and GE Aerospace, and UAE's national airline, Etihad Airways. The Abu Dhabi-based carrier confirmed on Friday that it will buy 28 wide-body Boeing aircraft, all powered by GE engines, as per Reuters. The aircraft, a mix of Boeing 787s and the next-generation 777X – will begin joining Etihad's fleet from 2028, as the airline looks to modernise and expand its operations. The White House described the deal as a significant boost for US manufacturing and exports . 'With the inclusion of the next-generation 777X in its fleet plan, the investment deepens the longstanding commercial aviation partnership between the UAE and the United States,' the White House said. 'It fuels American manufacturing and drives exports.' Etihad said the order reflects its 'ongoing approach to aligning its fleet with evolving network and operational needs.'
