Air India flight returns to Thai island after bomb threat
An Air India flight from Thailand's Phuket island to New Delhi made an emergency landing yesterday shortly after takeoff because of an on-board bomb threat, the Thai airports authority said. Airports of Thailand said on its Facebook page for Phuket that the pilot of the Airbus A320 radioed air traffic control that a bomb-threat message had been found on board. 'We received a report of a bomb threat written inside the aircraft's bathroom, so the pilot informed the control tower and decided to divert the flight to Phuket International Airport after circling to burn off fuel,' Monchai Tanode, director of Phuket International Airport told a press conference. 'Police have brought in several suspects, but have not yet been able to identify who wrote the message,' Monchai added. Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 showed the Phuket flight making a U-turn over the Andaman Sea soon after takeoff, then circling multiple times off the island's coast before landing. The flight finally took off at 4:28 pm (0928 GMT), the website showed, more than seven hours after its scheduled departure.

Delhi flight makes emergency landing in Thailand after bomb threat
New Delhi: An Air India flight to New Delhi on Friday was forced to return to Phuket and make an emergency landing after receiving a bomb threat, according to airport authorities. The flight, AI 379, had 156 passengers on board. Airports of Thailand (AOT) said all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft after it returned to Phuket following emergency protocols. The aircraft took off from Phuket airport at 9:30 am local time and instead of proceeding towards India, it made a wide loop over the Andaman Sea and headed back to the Thai island. The route was tracked and confirmed by Flightradar24. An AOT official confirmed that passengers were escorted off the plane without incident.

He also sent a message of condolences to Britain's King Charles III over the heavy British death toll. Xi's condolences came as rescue teams with sniffer dogs combed the crash site of the London-bound passenger jet that ploughed into a residential area of India's Ahmedabad city on Thursday, killing at least 265 people on board and on the ground. The airline said there were 169 Indian passengers, 53 British, seven Portuguese and a Canadian on board the flight bound for London's Gatwick airport, as well as 12 crew members. Only one person aboard the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner – carrying 242 passengers and crew – miraculously survived the fiery crash, which left the tailpiece of the aircraft jutting out of the second floor of a hostel for medical staff from a nearby hospital. The nose and front wheel landed on a canteen building where students were having lunch, witnesses said. Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanan Desai said 265 bodies had so far been counted – suggesting at least 24 people died on the ground – but the toll may rise as more body parts are recovered.
