Pepper, coffee growers' convention in Puttur
Pepper and Coffee Growers' Federation of Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod (Kerala) Districts will organise a convention of growers at Subhadra Sabha Mandira, Darbe in Puttur on August 10 at 9.30 a.m. Kishore Kumar Kodgi, president, Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd (CAMPCO), Mangaluru, will preside over it. There will be sessions on cultivating pepper, coffee, and arecanut, and applying nutrients to them. Ajith Prasad Rai, a progressive farmer cultivating arecanut, pepper, and coffee, will be felicitated.
Addressing press persons in Puttur on Thursday, Shashikumar Bhat Padaru, president of the federation, said that saplings of 150 fruit varieties will be sold to farmers at the convention.
There will be an exhibition of farm equipment and a drip irrigation system. Fertiliser manufacturers will display their products.
Basketball tournament
Mangalore Basketball Club under Dakshina Kannada District Basketball Association will organise the 15th James Naismith Cup – 2025 basketball tournament for four days from August 21 at U. Srinivas Mallya Indoor Courts in Mangaluru. The tournament will be held for boys and girls of primary and high schools and men and women of colleges. Transport adalat
Transport Adalat will be held in the office of the Regional Transport Officer in Mangaluru on August 11 at noon. People can raise their complaints if any at the adalat, a release from the secretary of the Regional Transport Authority said.
