Tempo driver killed as four vehicles crash on old Pune-Mumbai highway
A driver of a four-wheeler tempo that broke down and was being towed by another tempo, died in a road mishap involving four vehicles, on the old Pune Mumbai road in Khadki, on Wednesday night.
Police have identified the deceased as Akash Baban Kasbekar (25) of Pisoli Undri. His brother Deepak Kasbekar (31) lodged the FIR in this case at the Khadki police station.
Police said Akash Kasbekar's tempo suffered a breakdown in the Khadki area. So, another tempo was toeing Kasbekar's vehicle.
'While passing through the road near the post office on the Pune Mumbai highway, a speeding four wheeler collided into Kasbekar's tempo from the back around 10.20 pm. Apparently, a container passing through the road also lost its course and hit the other vehicles,' said Police sub inspector Digvijay Chougule, the investigation officer.
Police said the impact of the road accident was such that Kasbekar, who was sitting inside his tempo, suffered severe injuries, causing his death.
Police have booked the driver of the four wheeler and the container on charges of negligent driving, under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita sections 281, 125(b), 324(4), 106 and sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
