Akdital Expands into UAE with $70 Million Dubai Hospital Investment

Doha – Morocco's leading private healthcare provider, Akdital, has officially begun construction on its first international hospital in Dubai with a $70 million investment, extending the group's footprint beyond national borders. The new medical facility, scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, will offer comprehensive healthcare services covering multiple medical, surgical, and oncological specialties, according to a company statement released Tuesday. With a 200-bed capacity, the hospital will incorporate cutting-edge medical technologies and innovations that meet international standards to address growing demands for specialized care in the region. This Dubai project represents the first step in Akdital's planned international expansion into the Gulf region. The group has already outlined plans to open additional facilities in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia between 2025 and 2030. In April, Akdital signed a $200 million deal with Saudi real estate developers Wataniyah Business Real Estate and Namaya to establish two hospitals in Riyadh and Jeddah. These Saudi facilities are expected to be completed by 2027, aligning with Saudi Arabia's 2030 health strategy. Currently, Akdital operates 36 healthcare establishments across 21 Moroccan cities, with more than 4,100 beds and a workforce of 7,500 professionals. The group has been rapidly expanding its domestic presence, opening 12 new facilities in Morocco over the past year. By 2027, Akdital aims to have 62 establishments and over 6,000 hospital beds in 32 different Moroccan cities. The group's domestic strategy includes identifying 4-5 small towns within a 100 km radius of each Akdital hospital to open diagnostic centers, with plans to establish 200 such centers by 2030. Listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange since December 2022 under the symbol AKT, Akdital continues to strengthen its position in Morocco's healthcare sector while beginning its international journey with the Dubai hospital project. Leading Private Healthcare Group Akdital Expands Presence in Morocco

Groupe Akdital, a private clinic company, has opened 12 new healthcare facilities in Morocco in the last year, nearly tripling its total establishments across the country. The group currently has locations in Khouribga, Marrakech, Essaouira, Tetouan, Errachidia, Taroudant, Dakhla, Kenitra, Benguerir and Meknes, with over 3,500 doctors and 3,700 hospital beds, according to Akdital's presentation of 2024 results. Throughout last year, the group admitted over 670,000 patient cases and recorded a 96.7% patient satisfaction rate. Urban populations tend to have more access to care in Morocco, says a recent study by the United States National Institute of Health, noting that Morocco's primary healthcare challenge is to address disparities between urban and rural areas. This disparity especially affects the quality of equipment, infrastructure and specialist care available to Moroccans. After publishing its 2024 annual results, Akdital also shared its plan for 2025-2030 which includes advancing its quality and practice to curb this issue especially in less urban areas. Akdital's overall goal is to 'consolidate [its] position as a benchmark in Morocco by providing access to quality healthcare to all Moroccans, in a responsible and sustainable manner, while initiating [its] international influence,' says the document. Akdital's Expansion Plan By 2027, Akdital plans to have 62 establishments and over 6000 hospital beds in 32 different cities in Morocco. For each Akdital hospital, the group will identify 4 to 5 small towns within a radius of 100 km to open an Akdital diagnostic center. Rural populations often face difficulties in obtaining timely diagnoses and treatments, leading to delays in care that can worsen health outcomes. This gap is exacerbated by the concentration of healthcare professionals in cities, leaving smaller towns and villages with limited access to skilled medical personnel. Akdital's goal is to open 200 of these diagnostic centers by 2030, providing a new way of bringing medical diagnoses closer to populations who live far from urban centers. This initiative will strengthen Akdital's regional services and provide medical support to underserved communities. To further enhance its medical services in Morocco, Akdital has embraced technological innovation and modernized its operations. This includes digitizing medical records and introducing state-of-the-art surgical robotics to enable more precise, less invasive procedures. Akdital is also prioritizing its operational efficiency with a strong focus on improving the patient experience. Efforts include maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene and placing the patient at the center of care. The group is implementing patient satisfaction surveys, qualitative monitoring, and a patient-centered approach to medicine. Lastly, the group has laid out plans to strengthen its community impact. This includes reducing energy consumption, minimizing its carbon footprint, and improving the management of medical waste. Through the Akdital Foundation, the group also provides healthcare access to vulnerable populations and supports local socio-economic initiatives. Additionally, the group is enhancing its human resources services and introducing new employee incentives aimed at boosting performance and productivity. Akdital's next step involves its international expansion into the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia between 2025 and 2030. The group has notably outlined plans to open two establishments in Dubai and another Emirate and two in Riyadh and Jeddah. As Akdital continues to expand within Morocco and abroad, its investments in infrastructure, personnel training, and digital innovation signal a broader strategy to position itself as a competitive healthcare provider in both regional and international markets. With its sights set on the Gulf region, the group's upcoming projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia mark the beginning of a new phase that could extend its healthcare model beyond Moroccan borders.

Morocco's Akdital expands globally with hospital projects in UAE and Saudi Arabia

DR Morocco's leading private healthcare group, Akdital, is making a significant strategic move: expanding operations outside of Morocco. The group has announced the launch of four hospital projects in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, signaling the first phase of its plan to establish a strong regional presence by 2030. During a press conference this Friday, Akdital unveiled its ambition to become a premier healthcare provider in the Arab world. This international expansion will be realized through the development of four hospital facilities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. These projects, slated for completion by 2030, mark a new chapter for the group, which has previously concentrated its activities within Morocco. This international growth doesn't diminish Akdital's focus on its domestic projects. Between 2025 and 2030, the group intends to open 40 new healthcare facilities in Morocco, boosting its capacity to over 10,000 beds. This expansion plan builds on the momentum of recent years. By 2024, Akdital operated 29 facilities across 22 cities, totaling 3,164 beds, 197 operating rooms, and 233 consultation rooms. The year 2024 underscores the group's financial strength. Revenue reached 2.462 billion dirhams, a 56% increase compared to 2022. The gross operating surplus (EBITDA) was 706 million dirhams, a 59% rise, while the group's net profit soared by 87% to 243 million dirhams. Akdital has also reinforced its financial structure with a self-financing capacity of 531 million dirhams and a controlled net debt of 1.4 billion dirhams. The debt ratio remains stable, with a gearing of 47% compared to 48% the previous year. To fund its upcoming ventures, the group successfully raised 1.2 billion dirhams in December 2023 through a green bond issue linked to ESG (environmental, social, and governance) criteria. This initiative reflects Akdital's commitment to pursuing its growth in a responsible and sustainable manner.
