Joey King in Talks to Star in PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 Alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman — GeekTyrant

Joey King ( The Act , Bullet Train , We Were the Lucky Ones ) is in talks to join the sequel Practical Magic 2 , which will feature returning stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. If negotiations work out, King will reportedly be playing the daughter of Bullock's character. Bullock and Kidman are reprising their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters who descend from a long line of witches. In the original 1998 movie, the duo finds themselves fighting off a curse that kills the men they fall in love with. Plot details for the second film haven't been revealed, though sources say the story is based on a later installment in Alice Hoffman's 'Practical Magic' book series. Susanne Bier is directing the sequel from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the first film. It's aiming to start production in London later this summer. Practical Magic 2 will be released in theaters on Sept. 18, 2026.

‘Practical Magic 2' With Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman Sets Fall 2026 Release

The sequel to Practical Magic is aiming to enchant viewers in the fall of 2026. Warner Bros. took to social media Tuesday to announce that director Susanne Bier's forthcoming feature Practical Magic 2 is set to hit theaters Sept. 18, 2026. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are returning from the original that was released Oct. 16, 1998. 'Let the spell begin to mix. September 18, 2026.' Also set for release on that date is director Zach Cregger's Resident Evil reboot for Sony. Akiva Goldsman, who worked on the original Practical Magic's script, is credited alongside Adam Brooks and Robin Swicord for the sequel's screenplay. Denise Di Novi, the producer on the 1998 movie, is producing the new one with Bullock and Kidman. Plot details for the sequel have not yet been shared. The first Practical Magic centers on Bullock and Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens, a pair of orphaned sisters who descend from a line of witches and work to use their powers against a curse that prevents them from finding love. Practical Magic did not cast much of a spell at the global box office, collecting $46.7 million ($91.6 million today). Di Novi told People last summer that she expected the sequel to honor the original. 'I think the big mistake people make with sequels is when they kind of want to reinvent the wheel and be totally original and surprise people that it's different or whatever,' the producer said at the time. Russell Crowe to Star in Cold War Thriller "Billion Dollar Spy"

Walden Media and Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road Pictures are making the Cold War thriller "Billion Dollar Spy", with Oscar winner Russell Crowe and Industry's Harry Lawtey attached to star. Oscar-winning writer Stephen Gaghan (Traffic, Syriana) wrote the most recent draft, revising a script penned by Ben August. The screenplay is adapted from the bestselling book by David E. Hoffman. BAFTA Award winner Amma Asante (Belle, A Way of Life, A United Kingdom) will direct. The project is in pre-production. Set against the high-stakes backdrop of the late Cold War, "Billion Dollar Spy" follows Adolf Tolkachev (Crowe), an ordinary man who risks everything to pass thousands of pages of top-secret Soviet intelligence to the U.S. Despite repeated rejections by a wary CIA, Tolkachev persisted, embodying the courage to stand against a regime that betrayed its own people. Finally finding an ally in CIA agent Tom Lenihan (Lawtey), Tolkachev was able to fundamentally shift the balance of power, proving that true patriotism lies not in blind allegiance but in the willingness to challenge a government when it strays from its ideals. In an era when resistance and bravery are more relevant than ever, his story resonates deeply. Frank Smith, Benjamin Tappan and Cher Hawrysh of Walden Media are producing alongside Goldsman and Greg Lessans of Weed Road. Jane Hooks will serve as an EP. Pioneer Stillking Films' Ildiko Kemeny, David Minkowski and Ferenc Szále will serve as co-producers. Hanway Films is handling international sales.
