Israel bombs Gaza journalist's home, killing at least 8

Listen to article At least eight people were killed and others wounded when an Israeli airstrike targeted the home of journalist Osama al-Arbid in the as-Saftawi area of northern Gaza, according to Al Jazeera. Al-Arbid reportedly survived the attack. Video footage shared by local media showed him being pulled from the rubble of his destroyed home. The Israeli military has not commented on the strike. Medical sources in Gaza told reporters that at least 15 Palestinians have been killed across the Strip since dawn in various Israeli attacks. In a separate incident, at least three Palestinians were killed and 46 injured when Israeli forces opened fire on crowds gathered at an aid distribution point in southern Gaza. The centre was operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a US-backed group that has faced criticism over its affiliations. According to AFP journalists on the ground, thousands of Palestinians had rushed to the newly established distribution site on Tuesday, resulting in chaotic scenes as Israel rolled out a new aid delivery system in the besieged territory. The incident in Rafah came days after the partial easing of a total aid blockade on the territory that Israel imposed since March 2, leading to severe shortages of food and medicine. According to the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) normal operations resumed following the incident. Israel's war on Gaza Gaza's health ministry said on Sunday that at least 3,785 people had been killed in the territory since a ceasefire collapsed on March 18, taking the war's overall toll to 53,939, mostly civilians, according to AFP. Israel's atrocities have displaced around 90% of Gaza's estimated 2 million residents, created a severe hunger crisis, and caused widespread destruction across the territory. The Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing at least 61,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, according to Al Jazeera. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.

He added that six other citizens from the Aqeelan family were killed in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, after their home was targeted by an Israeli warplane. Two citizens were also killed by Israeli shelling and fire on the town of Abasan, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, while another young man was killed by Israeli drone fire in the town of Al-Fakhari, east of the city. Yesterday evening, three citizens were killed and dozens wounded by Israeli forces' fire west of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. The bodies of three martyrs were recovered, while 46 wounded arrived at the Red Cross Hospital in Rafah following Israeli artillery shelling and gunfire targeting citizens waiting for aid west of Rafah. Since March 2, the occupation has continued its policy of systematically starving approximately 2.4 million citizens in the Gaza Strip by closing the crossings to aid supplies piling up on the border, plunging the Strip into famine and claiming the lives of many. Since October 7, 2023, the occupation has committed crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of 54,056 citizens, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 123,129 others. This is a preliminary toll, with a number of victims still under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulances and rescue teams. WAFA
