Mosul ( – Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil discussed today, Monday (July 21, 2025), investment opportunities available for Saudi companies in Nineveh with Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ajlan, Chairman of the Saudi Contractors Authority, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting, held at the governor's office, focused on the potential role of Saudi companies in the city's development and strengthening cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Governor Al-Dakhil received Al-Ajlan and a delegation that included several Saudi businessmen, with discussions centered on enhancing collaboration to serve mutual interests. Al-Dakhil emphasized that the presence of Saudi businessmen underscores the determination to develop Nineveh Governorate, given its significant potential for success. He described their visit as an important message towards progress and prosperity, confirming that all available investment opportunities across various sectors were presented to the delegation. Efforts are underway to facilitate the entry of Saudi companies and businessmen to invest in Nineveh. The Saudi delegation expressed their interest in contributing to the reconstruction and development of Mosul. They affirmed that Saudi Arabia and Iraq are one country bound by strong historical and cultural ties, and that the Saudi government is focused on supporting Iraq to enhance its development and stability.

Kuwait stresses green economy and carbon goals at SCO Energy Ministers' meeting
BEIJING, June 29: The State of Kuwait showcased its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 and diversifying its national economy during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Energy Ministers' Conference held on June 26-27 in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China. The event, themed 'Innovation and Integration... Dynamic Future,' brought together ministers, officials, and experts from SCO member states, observers, and dialogue partners. Counselor Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil, representing the Kuwaiti Embassy at the conference, reaffirmed Kuwait's full support for the SCO's objectives, especially under China's rotating presidency for 2024 and 2025, designated as the 'Year of Sustainable Development.' He noted that this initiative highlights a collective regional commitment to addressing climate change, ensuring energy security, and transitioning towards a green economy. Al-Dakhil emphasized Kuwait's active role as a dialogue partner within the SCO, strengthening cooperation in energy transition and environmental sustainability. He underscored the strategic Kuwaiti-Chinese partnership in the energy sector, marked notably by a memorandum of understanding signed in July 2024 between Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, China's SPIC Corporation, and the National Energy Administration. The agreement focuses on renewable energy, technical cooperation to meet peak demand, and clean energy infrastructure planning. Highlighting the significance of this partnership, Al-Dakhil mentioned the visit of a high-level Chinese delegation to Kuwait's Shagaya Renewable Energy Complex in May, reflecting mutual dedication to expanding collaborative efforts. He further explained that Kuwait's initiatives align with the SCO's energy strategy up to 2030, adopted at the 2024 energy ministers' meeting in Astana. Nineveh announces major expansion plan with 160,000 dunams for new development projects
Mosul ( – Nineveh Governorate is set to add 160,000 dunams for new development projects spanning housing, industry, commerce, and services, Governor Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil announced on Thursday (May 22, 2025). The announcement came during the 3rd Our Industry is Our Identity festival in Mosul, organized by the Nineveh Chamber of Industry. Governor Al-Dakhil emphasized Nineveh's historical industrial strength and the current drive to revive it through self-sustaining projects that create jobs, moving beyond sole reliance on rentier budgets. He highlighted the upcoming opening of Mosul Airport as a qualitative leap for the province. Mohammed Ali Hazem Al-Mashhadani, Head of the Nineveh Chamber of Industry, echoed the Made in Iraq vision and urged the governor to expedite the approval of proposed new industrial zones. He noted over 2,800 pending requests for industrial land allocation since 2017, underscoring the demand. These plans signal a significant push for urban expansion and industrial revitalization in Nineveh, aiming to transform the region into a dynamic economic hub.

All states have the right to develop and use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes: Kuwait
BEIJING, April 21: Kuwait has reiterated its support for the right of all nations to develop and utilize nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and emphasized its commitment to establishing a nuclear-weapon-free zone. This affirmation was made in a speech delivered by Counselor Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil of the Kuwaiti Embassy in China at the opening of the First China-Gulf Forum on the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technologies, held in Chengdu, the capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province. Al-Dakhil highlighted Kuwait's dedication to maintaining strong and ongoing cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This collaboration aims to enable the safe and effective use of nuclear energy in projects that promote socio-economic development, while enhancing coordination with IAEA member states to support the peaceful use of nuclear technology. He noted the progressive development in Kuwait's cooperation with the IAEA, especially in technical fields. Kuwait has submitted four national projects to the Agency, focusing on: The production of genetically modified crops, Groundwater resource management, Cancer treatment using radiation technologies, Combating environmental and radioactive pollution. Furthermore, Al-Dakhil pointed out that Kuwait is coordinating with the IAEA on nuclear applications in the oil sector and is evaluating the feasibility of using small modular reactors (SMRs) for electricity generation. He also mentioned that the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) is currently conducting in-depth studies in collaboration with the IAEA. These studies assess the technical, economic, environmental, social, and political feasibility of adopting nuclear energy technologies for electricity generation, water desalination, and oil and industrial applications. Although Kuwait has not yet formally adopted a nuclear energy program for power generation, Al-Dakhil explained that these preparatory studies reflect the country's intention to stay aligned with technological advancements and address its future energy needs. He emphasized that these studies include assessments on the integration of small modular reactor technologies into Kuwait's energy system, particularly for their potential role in power generation. Al-Dakhil expressed Kuwait's hope that the China-GCC forum will yield actionable recommendations to enhance cooperation and serve the strategic interests of both sides. He stated that Kuwait's participation stems from its belief in the importance of high-level dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders, noting that the forum is a direct outcome of the China-Gulf Summit held in Riyadh in 2022, which launched the initiative to enhance peaceful nuclear cooperation. The First China-Gulf Forum on the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technologies is being attended by: GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi, President of the China Atomic Energy Authority Shan Zhongde, Delegates from the IAEA, Representatives from international research centers and nuclear energy specialists from around the world. The forum aims to promote political dialogue, exchange of knowledge, and long-term strategic partnerships in the field of nuclear energy between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Around 90% completion of Al-Nuri Mosque, says Nineveh Governor
The Governor of Nineveh Abdul Qader Dakhil announced on Tuesday the 90% completion of the works at Al-Nuri Mosque, destroyed by Daesh terrorist gangs in 2017. The works at Al-Nuri Mosque were completed by 90%, and some spaces, gardens, and other ablution places remain. The work will be completed during the current month of March or the beginning of next April, said Al-Dakhil to the Iraqi News Agency - INA. "Working in the old city, the right coast, requires time, especially as it is among the areas nominated for the World Heritage List. Therefore the work requires to be according to UNESCO data as well as the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Nineveh Antiquities Department," he explained. He pointed out that "the study of the reconstruction of the destroyed areas was completed two years after work by the University of Baghdad and a Spanish company." Daesh terrorist gangs bombed Al-Nuri Mosque in Mosul and its beacon in June 2017. The construction of the mosque dates back to the sixth century AH - twelfth century AD.
