Koya club ends Al-Sinaa's dominance to win Iraqi Cycling League
Duhok ( – Koya club has put an end to Al-Sinaa's long-standing dominance in the Iraqi Cycling Clubs League for the advanced category, securing first place in the final day of the fourth and last stage of the tournament. The championship concluded today, Wednesday (August 6, 2025), in Duhok Governorate, featuring participation from over 20 clubs representing Baghdad and other governorates.
In the 150 km individual road race, which was the decisive event, Koya club clinched the top spot. Al-Sinaa club came in second, followed by Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi in third. The impressive team victory was spearheaded by a dominant individual performance, with Koya's rider Mohammed Mohammed Ali claiming first place, and his teammate Sarbast Abdullah Issa securing second. Al-Sinaa's rider, Ahmed Muhannad Abdul Amir, took third place.
The final stages of the league, held in both Erbil and Duhok governorates, provided a thrilling conclusion to the season. Koya's victory signifies a major shift in the competitive landscape of Iraqi cycling, bringing a new champion to the forefront of the sport.
