Al-Qadsiya eyes the West Asia title as it faces Jeddah Union in the semifinals
KUWAIT CITY, March 10: Al-Qadsiya Club is set for a high-stakes showdown tonight against Saudi Arabia's Jeddah Union in the semi-finals of the Asian Basketball League Championship for West Asia (Gulf region). The match will tip off at 10:00 pm at the Kuwaiti Basketball Federation Hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. The semi-final series follows a best-of-three playoff format, where the first team to win two games advances. The second leg will take place in Saudi Arabia on March 18, while a decisive third match, if needed, is scheduled for March 25. Both teams are familiar foes, having met twice in the group stage, with Al-Qadsiya emerging victorious on both occasions (82-62 and 91-83). This gives Al-Qadsiya a psychological edge heading into the semi-finals. American coach Anthony Stebbing aims to secure a third consecutive win against Jeddah Union, propelling Al-Qadsiya toward the Asian Gulf title. The team has shown remarkable progress in recent weeks, leading the domestic league standings, thanks to strong team chemistry, high morale, and Stebbing's tactical expertise. Meanwhile, two matches will be played in the second division of the merged Basketball League at Union Hall: Al-Tadamon (10 points) vs. Al-Yarmouk (11 points) – 8:45 pm Al-Sulaibikhat (12 points) vs. Title holder Kuwait (17 points) – 11:00 pm Al-Qadsiya fans will be hoping their team continues its dominance as the journey toward the championship intensifies.

Al-Qadsiya signs Al-Dhafiri to bolster midfield
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: Al-Qadsiya Club has officially signed Saudi midfielder Abdulrahman Al-Dhafiri on a two-and-a-half-year contract to strengthen its midfield ranks. Born on May 20, 1999, in Kuwait, Al-Dhafiri began his football journey in the youth divisions of Kuwait Club. He later played for Al-Nasr Saudi Club's U-23 team before being loaned to several clubs, including Al-Batin (2018), Al-Ain and Al-Khaleej (2019), Al-Hazm (2020), and Al-Orouba (2022). In 2023, he joined Al-Arabi. Al-Dhafiri made a strong impact at Al-Arabi, establishing himself as a key player in the starting lineup and contributing significantly to the team's victories. However, he stopped training at the beginning of the current season due to financial disputes and eventually filed a complaint with FIFA's Dispute Resolution Committee, which ruled in his favor to terminate his contract. Following his move to Al-Qadsiya, Al-Dhafiri shared his excitement on social media, stating: "I signed my contract with Al-Qadsiya, where glory, history, present, and future lie. Al-Qadsiya has faced challenges in midfield in recent years due to the departure of key players like Ahmed Al-Dhafiri, Saif Al-Hashan, Sultan Al-Enezi, and Reda Hani. Additionally, club veteran Bader Al-Mutawa's advancing age (41) has impacted the team's performance in this crucial area. The club hopes Al-Dhafiri's arrival will provide much-needed stability and creativity in midfield as it aims to regain its competitive edge.
