Minister of Tourism Participates in Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Dubai
Her Excellency Fatima bint Jaffar Al-Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, participated in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, which is being held from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the theme of "Global Travel: Transforming the Tourism of the Future through Enhanced Connectivity." Al-Sairafi explained that the exhibition is one of the largest and most important exhibitions specializing in the travel and tourism sector regionally and globally. This year, it highlights the future aspects of travel and tourism, with a focus on the role of communication in shaping the next phase. She noted the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to taking part in such major international events, which contributes to promoting tourism and strengthening communication with stakeholders in the travel and tourism sector from all around the world. It also highlights Bahrain's distinguished tourism infrastructure, in addition to, the qualitative developments achieved in the tourism sector, and creates more opportunities for cooperation with various markets and international partners, in line with the objectives of the 2022-2026 Tourism Strategy. This year, the Kingdom of Bahrain is participating with a pavilion comprising of 28 entities from the public and private sectors, most notably the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), the national carrier Gulf Air, and the Exhibition World Bahrain Centre (EWB), along with a number of luxury hotels and resorts and tourism DMCs. Bahrain's participation covers a 425 sqm pavilion, showcasing the Kingdom's most prominent tourism assets, while informing visitors and participants of the latest tourism projects and initiatives. Bilateral meetings will also be held with worldwide representatives from the tourism sector to explore opportunities for joint cooperation and exchange best practices in sustainable tourism. As part of the ATM participation, the Minister met with His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, and His Excellency Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman. They discussed prospects for cooperation with both countries in the tourism sector, emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships to serve common interests and tourism development plans in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Minister of Tourism Participates in Ministerial Roundtable at AIM Meeting in Abu Dhabi
Her Excellency Fatima bint Jaffar Al-Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, emphasized that investment in the tourism sector is one of the fundamental pillars of supporting economic growth in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It constitutes as an effective economic tool that contributes to improving various economic sectors and creating new job opportunities, which benefits the national economy. This came during her participation in the ministerial roundtable on "Investing in Tourism: Shaping Investment Opportunities through Policy Innovation," as part of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) 2025, organized by the World Tourism Organization in Abu Dhabi. Al-Sairafi stated that the tourism sector is one of the most promising economic sectors in the region, and supporting tourism investment represents a fundamental pillar of sustainable development which contributes to strengthening the Kingdom of Bahrain's position as a leading global tourism destination. Her Excellency added that the private sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain is a key partner in developing the tourism sector, while coordinating and cooperating to provide diverse tourism experiences that meet the needs and aspirations of tourists and visitors. She pointed out on the Kingdom's distinguished tourism infrastructure, including a diverse hotel portfolio that caters to a variety of tastes. Al-Sairafi explained that 2024 witnessed the addition of some 4&5-star hotels, adding that the Kingdom of Bahrain is also expected to witness the opening of new 5-star hotels by 2026, reflecting the continued expansion of the hospitality sector. She emphasized that this expansion will strengthen the tourism and hotel sector in Bahrain, leading to increased tourism revenues and the creation of new job opportunities, in addition to, supporting SMEs by creating partnerships with local suppliers and contractors. Her Excellency also noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved significant successes in supporting business tourism, (MICE), by attracting numerous major events and conferences, which contributes to strengthening its position as a distinguished destination for international events. Al-Sairafi highlighted the importance of coordination between the Kingdom of Bahrain and regional and international tourism organizations, and enhancing joint Arab cooperation, which contributes to attracting tourism investments and developing the sector sustainably. She pointed out that this cooperation enhances tourism integration among Arab countries and increases inter-Arab tourism rates. She emphasized that Arab governments pay great attention to the tourism sector by providing incentives and grants to support it. On the sidelines of the visit, Her Excellency the Minister of Tourism met with His Excellency Mr. Saleh Mohammed Al-Jaziri, Director General of Tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi. They reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed ways of cooperation in areas of joint work related to encouraging investment in tourism and strategic projects.

Bahrain is set to host a series of events and entertainment programs, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing marine tourism. The highly anticipated "Sama Bay" Project, a distinctive seafront destination, is poised to offer an integrated tourism experience with a diverse range of marine, sports, and recreational activities suitable for visitors of all ages. Her Excellency Mrs. Fatima bint Jaffar Al-Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, highlighted that the Sama Bay Project aligns with Bahrain's tourism strategy (2022-2026), which emphasizes marine tourism as a key sector for development. She stated that the new seafront in the Muharraq Governorate represents a qualitative addition to Bahrain's tourism landscape, reinforcing the Kingdom's rich maritime heritage and picturesque coastal beauty. 'The Sama Bay Project will serve as a distinctive destination, catering to individuals and families alike while enhancing the tourism status of Muharraq. The Governorate boasts a well-developed tourism infrastructure and is home to major projects such as Marassi Al Bahrain and the Sa'ada Project, further strengthening the tourism sector and attracting investments,' Al-Sairafi remarked. She further underscored Bahrain's unique advantage as the only archipelagic state in the region, allowing it to develop and diversify marine tourism. The Kingdom's coasts play a pivotal role in attracting visitors globally, while simultaneously contributing to Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 by promoting economic sustainability and tourism expansion. Ms. Sarah Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, described Sama Bay as a modern strategic project designed to promote family tourism. She emphasized that the development offers a variety of outdoor sports and recreational activities, making it an ideal destination for both locals and international visitors. 'The project will feature a diverse range of services, including restaurants and entertainment facilities. Additionally, there remains significant potential for attracting innovative projects that will enhance the overall visitor experience and further develop Bahrain's tourism sector,' Buhiji stated. She also confirmed that a series of exciting events, activities, and entertainment programs are planned for the coming weeks. These will include art workshops, musical performances, cultural festivals, and dedicated children's activities, all of which will enhance Sama Bay's appeal as an integrated entertainment hub. Spanning 2 kilometers with a total area of 100,000 square meters, the Sama Bay Project can accommodate over 3,000 visitors per day. It is divided into two main sections: the first extends 1.5 kilometers and features 39 commercial units, including shops, kiosks, a sports center, a water sports center, and an area designated for 14 food trucks, along with a jogging and aerobics walkway. The second section, covering 0.5 kilometers, houses 12 buildings designed for waterfront restaurants, offering a premium dining experience for marine enthusiasts. The launch of the Sama Bay Project marks a significant step in the development of Bahrain's tourism infrastructure. As part of the Kingdom's Economic Vision 2030, the initiative aims to boost economic diversity and create sustainable growth within the tourism sector. With its comprehensive amenities and vibrant atmosphere, Sama Bay is set to position Bahrain as one of the region's premier tourist destinations.
