Fahaheel's third-place hopes fade after goalless draw
KUWAIT CITY, May 4: Fahaheel's Syrian coach, Firas Al-Khatib, voiced his disappointment after his team missed a crucial chance to compete for third place in the Zain Premier League. The setback came after a goalless draw against Al-Tadamon in their third-round match of the championship group, played the day before yesterday at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. The draw left Fahaheel in fifth place with 31 points, trailing Al-Salmiya (33 points) in fourth and Al-Qadisiya (38 points) in third. Al-Tadamon, meanwhile, improved to 21 points, holding sixth place. Al-Khatib acknowledged that Fahaheel entered the match with ambitions of overtaking Al-Salmiya for fourth place and eventually challenging Al-Qadisiya for third. "We aimed to beat Al-Tadamon to move up, but our players weren't at their best today," he said. "The forwards wasted several chances that could have changed the outcome." He emphasized that Fahaheel always plays to win but admitted that even victories in their remaining two matches are unlikely to secure a top-three finish—and with it, a spot in next season's international competitions. Al-Khatib confirmed that the team's current focus has shifted toward the Amir's Cup.

Ibrahim lauds Al-Qadsiya's resilience despite defeat in the Gulf Champions League final
KUWAIT CITY, April 16: Former Al-Qadsiya and national team coach Mohammed Ibrahim, known as 'The General,' has commended Zeljko Petrovic for his successful tenure with the team, emphasizing the positive impact the Montenegrin coach has had on the squad this season. Ibrahim highlighted the Al-Qadsiya board of directors' strong support for the team, along with the technical and administrative staff's efforts in maintaining high player focus, especially with the added strain of frequent travels for the Gulf Champions League alongside local tournament commitments. Reflecting on the team's challenges before the Gulf Champions League final, Ibrahim noted the difficult circumstances Al-Qadsiya faced. The team was without Hussein Dhahiri due to suspension, Moaz Al-Dhafiri was injured the day before the match, and the loss of Khaled Ibrahim, who was forced off injured in the first half, was another setback. Despite these challenges, Ibrahim praised the technical staff's management of the match and their decision to include young talents like Khaled Sabah, Faisal Al-Shatti, Jassim Al-Matar, and Abdullah Mutawa. Ibrahim congratulated the Qadisiya players, the board of directors, and the administrative and technical staff, led by Sheikh Fahad Talal, for their outstanding performance in the Gulf Championship despite the obstacles they faced. Following their return from Iraq, Al-Qadsiya resumed training today in preparation for their upcoming match against Al-Tadamon on Sunday in the second round of the tournament's group stage. In the final, Al-Qadsiya suffered a 2-1 loss to Iraqi club Duhok in the second leg of the Gulf Champions League the day before yesterday. In post-match comments, Petrovic criticized the referee's decisions, stating, 'It's difficult to win under these conditions. The referee didn't award many free kicks to my team, but he was quick to give them to the home side.' The emotional coach was seen tearing up after Omani referee Qassim Al-Hatmi blew the final whistle. Meanwhile, Mohammed Soula, Al-Qadsiya's Libyan professional, pointed to a lack of concentration in the final moments of the match as the key reason for the team's defeat.

KUWAIT CITY, April 2: The final round of the Zain Premier League kicks off today with a match between Kuwait Club and Al-Tadamon at 6:35 pm at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium, marking the start of the top six teams' championship league. The round will continue tomorrow with a matchup between Al-Qadsia and Al-Salmiya and conclude on Friday with Al-Arabi facing Al-Fahaheel. This round follows a single-round format, with the title race narrowed down to Kuwait Club (47 points) and Al-Arabi (45 points), while Al-Qadsia holds third place with 35 points. Al-Salmiya is in fourth with 29 points, followed by Al-Fahaheel (28 points) and Al-Nasr (20 points). Kuwait Club and Al-Arabi have been the league leaders in previous rounds, but the "Green" team faltered in the last round with a 1-1 draw against Al-Salmiya. This allowed Kuwait Club to take the top spot following a 3-1 win over Al-Tadamon. Kuwait Club is eager to extend its dominance over Al-Tadamon, having previously defeated it 3-0 in the first division and eliminated it 5-0 in the Crown Prince Cup preliminary round. The "Whites" know that every point is crucial in these final matches, especially with other clubs having nothing left to lose and looking to make an impact before the season ends. Kuwait Club is also aware that Al-Tadamon is a tough opponent, having led in their previous encounter before Kuwait Club made a strong comeback in the second half. On the other hand, Al-Tadamon is hoping to improve its standing and end its losing streak against Kuwait Club. Under the guidance of Jamal Al-Qabandi, the team is also focused on preparing for the Amir's Cup, which will begin with a match against Al-Fahaheel on April 12 in the competition's preliminary round. Kuwait Club's Montenegrin coach, Nebojsa Jovovic, acknowledges the importance of tonight's three points to keep the team's momentum toward securing a fourth consecutive title and its 20th overall.
