Undersecretary Yousif Mohammed Al Binkhalil Engages at WAVES Summit in India

New Delhi: Yousif Mohammed Al Binkhalil, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, took part in the inaugural World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) held in India from May 1-4. The summit assembled artists, innovators, investors, and policymakers from around the world to explore the future and challenges in media, entertainment, and creative industries. According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Binkhalil also engaged in the Global Media Dialogue, which ran concurrently with the summit, featuring delegations from 77 countries and organizations. During his participation, Al Binkhalil highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain's focus on the media sector, under the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He underscored the sector's role in fostering international ties through messages of tolerance and coexistence, vital for achieving prosperity and human wellbeing. Al Binkhalil reiterated the Ministry's dedication to participating in regional and international events centered on media and technology, to both showcase Bahrain's advancements and seize opportunities for skill development and innovation among youth. These efforts are aligned with Bahrain's broader sustainable development goals. He remarked that the summit provided a crucial platform for enhancing media cooperation and exchanging experiences to advance the national media system, especially amidst the rapid technological changes in the media sector and the growing influence of audiovisual and entertainment media, alongside challenges posed by artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The WAVES summit emerged as a key venue for convergence within the global media and entertainment industry, attracting over 10,000 attendees, 650 companies, and 1,000 creatives. The event addressed various facets of the industry, including film, television, radio, print media, broadcasting, news, new media, advertising, animation, visual effects, gaming and esports, AR/VR/XR technologies, and music. In addition to its expansive programme, the summit featured sessions, workshops, and seminars on crucial topics such as media globalisation, content creation and distribution's future, technological disruptions, and the evolution of electronic gaming. The event also included exhibitions, cultural performances, and a media marketplace.
