Sheikh Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler's Office, attended the third graduation ceremony of the Sharjah Education Academy (SEA) on Sunday. The event took place at the University City Hall in Sharjah. Following the rendition of the UAE national anthem, Dr Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Academy, delivered a speech in which she expressed deep gratitude to His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his continued support of the Academy since its establishment. Dr Al Hashimi thanked Sheikh Salem for honouring the graduates. She congratulated the graduates and their families, wishing them success. She praised Sharjah's impressive achievements in education, noting the ongoing support from the Ruler of Sharjah, and emphasised that this graduating class is part of a bigger vision for excellence in education. The Academy graduated 313 individuals from different academic programmes, including teachers, school leaders, and early childhood specialists. This included 145 graduates from the third group of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education, 74 from the second group of the Master of Education in Educational Leadership, 28 from the first group of the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership, and 66 from the second group of the Certificate in Early Childhood Education. Among them, 28 graduates participated in the 'I Am Proud to Be a Teacher' programme. Dr Al Hashimi ended her speech with a warm message to the graduates, highlighting their role as ambassadors of excellence and supporters of meaningful education. She encouraged them to promote Sharjah's vision for quality education with dedication, passion, and a commitment to lifelong learning. She urged them to take on their responsibilities as decision-makers and innovators, helping to shape the future of education in line with Sharjah's forward-thinking approach. For her part, Pauline Taylor-Guy, Chancellor of Sharjah Education Academy, delivered a speech in which she congratulated the graduates, highlighting the Academy's role in preparing educators. She said, 'Today, we celebrate a group of passionate educators and leaders who have demonstrated great determination, dedication, and resilience throughout their academic journey. Your graduation marks not just the end of a study programme, but the beginning of a new chapter in your professional lives. You are changemakers, inspiring role models, and the future of education. You have chosen a noble path that requires a clear vision, compassion, and unwavering commitment.' Taylor added, referring to the Sharjah Education Academy's vision for teaching, preparing, and developing professional teachers, 'The Academy's vision is based on developing teachers and educational experts through diverse and innovative academic and professional programmes, grounded in scientific research. We have taken significant steps toward transforming the educational landscape.' Through our accredited diploma and master's programmes, strategic global partnerships, and research-driven initiatives, we have empowered hundreds of educators to gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead classrooms and educational institutions. Maryam Al Balushi, a graduate of the Master of Education in Educational Leadership programme, delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates, expressing their joy at completing their studies and graduating. She said, 'Today, we carry in our hearts the joy of accomplishment, in our eyes a passion for the future, and in our souls a noble mission that we have chosen to carry with pride. 'We have honed our expertise at the Sharjah Education Academy with knowledge, methodology, and modern visions, enabling us to return to our educational fields more empowered and contribute to building an educational community with solid foundations that elevates the status of teachers and raises the standards of students.' Teacher's oath and closing ceremony At the conclusion of the graduation ceremony, the graduates recited the Teacher's Oath: "I swear by Almighty God to observe God in the teaching profession, to protect my students in all circumstances, to do my utmost in their education, to instill a love of the homeland in their hearts, and to be sincere in the teaching profession, and God is my witness." 10 May 2025 08:47 SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)In observance of World Lupus Day on May 10, the Autoimmune Association (AIA) recently hosted a workshop aimed at raising awareness about autoimmune conditions and helping individuals recognise symptoms AIA partnered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment for the event that brought together specialists, media representatives, as well as ministry Eman Al Hashimi, Founder and President of BoD in AIA, presented an in-depth session exploring the nature of autoimmune diseases, their most common types, and the critical importance of early detection and innovative treatment strategies. She also addressed key contributing factors, such as genetic and environmental triggers, the role of lifestyle and nutrition, and the diseases' profound psychological and social impact on patients. Speaking to Aletihad on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Al Hashimi explained how raising awareness about lupus supports the broader mission of the AIA. "Raising awareness about lupus helps shine a light on the wider group of autoimmune diseases that are often misunderstood or misdiagnosed. It's not just about one disease — it is about changing how people view invisible illnesses, and that's at the core of AIA's mission.'The workshop aimed to equip the public with essential knowledge about autoimmune diseases, empowering them to make informed decisions when faced with these conditions or associated symptoms. 'With this workshop, I hoped we could break down the fear and confusion around autoimmune conditions, and help people recognize symptoms early. Early detection can make a huge difference in someone's quality of life,' Dr. Al Hashimi said. The event was supervised by Dr. Atheer Al Ansari, AIA's Chief Medical Consultant, who facilitated discussions and enriched the audience's understanding of comprehensive patient care workshop drew strong community engagement, reflecting growing public interest in autoimmune health and reinforcing the association's mission to bridge the gap between medicine and Al Hashimi emphasised the importance of involving the community in discussions around healthcare. 'Community outreach allows us to meet people where they are — it turns medical knowledge into something personal and accessible. 22 Apr 2025 00:41 SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)In a significant medical and humanitarian achievement for the UAE, the Autoimmune Association (AIA) has officially launched with the aim of supporting patients, raising community awareness, and developing research and studies in this vital medical charitable and voluntary association, the first of its kind in the Arab world and the fourth globally, affirms the UAE's commitment to improving quality of life, especially in the Year of association was founded at the initiative of Dr. Eman Al Hashimi, Founder and Chairperson of the Board of Directors and an award-winning Emirati composer, and comprises 17 founding members, including doctors, researchers, writers, artists interested in improving the quality of life in the Emirati community. Dr. Al Hashimi said she founded the AIA to provide support and education for individuals with autoimmune conditions, addressing challenges such as emotional toll and lack of understanding, which she personally of the core values of the AIA is to advocate for greater awareness and education about autoimmune diseases.'My experience has highlighted the urgent need for greater awareness and education about autoimmune diseases... my colleagues and I are driven to advocate for increased visibility and education, helping to break down misconceptions,' she Al Hashimi stressed that the AIA is committed to addressing challenges faced by people with autoimmune diseases, mainly difficulty in managing symptoms, lack of community support, and delays in diagnosis.'Individuals with autoimmune conditions encounter a variety of challenges that can significantly impact their daily lives. One of the most pressing issues is the complexity of managing their conditions, which often involves navigating a range of symptoms that can vary widely from day to day,' she added.'Our association is dedicated to addressing these challenges through a collaborative and human-centred approach. We focus on education and awareness campaigns to inform both the public and healthcare providers about autoimmune diseases, helping to foster a supportive environment," Dr. Al Hashimi said. In its third edition, the Authority's strategy also emphasises the "Sharjah Graduate Profile", which aims to define the essential skills, values, and knowledge that graduates from educational institutions across the emirate should possess. Witnessing Signing of Educational Partnership Agreements On the sidelines of the 4th Sharjah International Summit on Improvement in Education, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah witnessed the signing of a significant agreement between the Sharjah Education Academy and Invest Bank. The agreement was signed by Khawla Al Hosani, Deputy Director of the Sharjah Education Academy, and Idris Al Rafi, CEO of Invest Bank. Under this agreement, 187 educational scholarships will be provided with the support of Invest Bank for participants enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Certification Program at the academy. This community-driven initiative highlights the shared commitment of both parties to advancing education in the region. The investment in early childhood education aims to create a lasting legacy of educational excellence in Sharjah. Supporting Educators' Well-being His Highness also witnessed the signing of another agreement between the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Air Arabia. The agreement was signed by Ali Al Hosani, Director General of the Authority, and Adel Abdullah Ali, CEO of Air Arabia Group. This agreement, part of the pioneering initiative "Stand for Teachers", is designed to support educators, academics, and staff of the academy by offering them exclusive benefits, including discounts on travel tickets. This initiative aims to facilitate educators' well-being and enhance their professional development through added support and incentives. Sharjah Education Summit Explores Future Learning Systems The Sharjah International Summit on Improvement in Education, in its fourth edition this year, delves into the essential components needed to build future-ready educational systems. By hosting a diverse group of educators, the summit fosters dialogue, encourages the application of advanced technologies, promotes equality, and supports the adoption of sustainable practices in education. Global Expertise and Specialised Workshops The summit features participation from a distinguished group of experts and specialists in educational system improvement, representing leading universities, research centers, and academic institutions from around the world. In a groundbreaking move, the summit has introduced 13 specialized workshops prior to its official opening, featuring prominent education experts from a range of educational fields. Recent workshops focused on crucial subjects designed to bolster educators' empowerment and elevate learning outcomes.
