ACWA Power inks $500mln deals with top US firms at key Saudi forum

Saudi-based Acwa Power, the world's largest private water desalination company, and a leader in energy transition and first mover into green hydrogen, has announced the signing of MoUs with US companies, totalling $500 million. Signed at the Saudi–US Investment Forum in Riyadh, these agreements build on Acwa Power's existing partnerships with American firms, which now exceed $6 billion. Building on a long history of collaboration between Saudi Arabia and the US, these agreements further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations, driving innovation and investment in the energy sector, and supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2060. "These strategic partnerships with leading American companies are a direct investment in the future of Saudi Arabia, aligning with the key objectives of Vision 2030,' said Raad Al Saady, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Acwa Power. Cluster 2 Airports Company, the operator of 22 international and domestic airports across Saudi Arabia, said it has achieved a 4.5% growth in air traffic during the first quarter of 2025, with 38,700 flights recorded, spanning international, domestic, and private aviation. The cluster also reported a 9.5% surge in passenger traffic, which soared to 4.6 million passengers, said the company in a statement. Air cargo at Cluster 2 Airports saw a significant 34% growth, with total exports reaching 132.11 tonnes and total imports amounting to 154.89 tonnes. Kuwait plans nearly $6bln spend on infrastructure in 2025-26

Kuwait has allocated nearly $6 billion towards infrastructure and services projects in its 2025-2026 budget with special focus on rail, roads, water, electricity as well as the construction of the Mubarak Al Khabeer Port, said media reports. The budget includes capital spending of nearly KD1.7 billion ($5.7 billion) and more than 90 projects, reported the Arabic language daily Alqabas, citing official papers. The government has set a number of goals to be achieved through such projects in the current include increasing growth rates, expanding the private sector's role in the economy and boosting non-oil revenues, it stated. The Kuwaiti government is embarking on 90 new projects in various sectors, including roads, education, health, and infrastructure, reported Arab Times citing a senior official. "For example, two new football stadiums are being planned in the new cities in the northern parts of Kuwait, at a total cost of KD1.7 billion," he stated.
