‘Joy of Eid' shares gifts with 5,000children: Awqaf

QNA Doha The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, with support from the Family and Childhood Endowment Fund, continued its 'Joy of Eid Programme' by distributing gifts to around 5,000 children across 35 prayer grounds and mosques throughout the country, in celebration of Eid Al-Adha. Director General of the General Directorate of Endowments, Eng. Hassan bin Abdullah Al Marzouqi explained that the 'Joy of Eid Programme' is an initiative that reflects the Directorate's commitment to making endowments a meaningful part of people's lives, especially during joyful and festive occasions. The initiative embodies the slogan, 'Endowment is a Community Partnership', and is part of the ongoing efforts of the Family and Childhood Endowment Fund to support families and children. He noted that, for the first time, the gift distribution was carried out at 35 locations across various regions of the country, with five additional grand mosques included to ensure wider geographic coverage and to bring joy to as many children as possible. Al Marzouqi emphasised that the children's enthusiastic response and visible happiness highlight the positive impact of such initiatives, particularly during seasons of devotion and giving. He affirmed that Eid Al-Adha is a divinely ordained occasion for joy, compassion, sacrifice and generosity, and a time to strengthen social bonds, one of the noble objectives of Islamic teachings. He also pointed out that distributing gifts is a tangible expression of appreciation for children and their families, and a practical embodiment of the core humanitarian values upheld by the endowment system. It reflects a continuous commitment to spreading happiness and joy, especially on religious occasions. The Family and Childhood Endowment Fund was established as a leading initiative to strengthen family ties and provide a safe, developmental environment for children through programmes and projects aimed at instilling values and reinforcing ethical principles in younger generations. The Fund places special emphasis on the well-being of children, guided by the belief that nurturing the next generation is the cornerstone of building a healthy and prosperous society. Among its key objectives is instilling moral and educational values in children, and enhancing their sense of belonging and happiness, particularly during religious celebrations such as Eid Al-Adha. In addition, the Fund supports families as the primary nurturing environment for children, working to strengthen family cohesion and provide assistance to underprivileged households, thereby helping create a safe and supportive environment for children's development.

SSSD promotes children's awareness of their rights

International Child Helpline Day The initiative coincides with the International Child Helpline Day. On this occasion, SSSD organises awareness campaigns and a variety of activities targeting government and private schools, as well as child-focused centres across Sharjah. The aim is to highlight the importance of the child helpline in offering protection and support for children. The campaign is delivered by a team of social workers, legal researchers, psychologists, and social educators from the Child and Family Protection Centre, along with the Social Education Department and educators from the Department's branches. These sessions are being held in both public and private schools throughout the emirate. A safe environment that respects dignity The initiative targets 575 children across Sharjah, providing educational and awareness programs designed to inform them of their fundamental rights and empower them to report and seek help in the event of abuse or neglect. This initiative is part of SSSD's broader vision to support all children, including those with disabilities, by raising their awareness within a safe environment that respects their rights and preserves their dignity. The program also aims to help children understand their rights, equip them with the tools they need to protect themselves, and ensure an environment that fosters healthy and safe development. A range of rights are covered Fatima Al Marzouqi, Director of the Child and Family Protection Centre, stated that these awareness programs are part of SSSD's ongoing efforts to safeguard children's rights and increase their awareness. She explained that SSSD is constantly working to provide all necessary means to ensure a decent life for children and to enable their healthy growth so they may become active contributors to society. Al Marzouqi added that the initiative extends beyond the city of Sharjah and includes all cities within the emirate in a comprehensive step targeting child-focused centres to ensure the message reaches children of all backgrounds. She noted that SSSD, through the Child and Family Protection Centre, continues to strengthen its efforts to protect children from all forms of abuse and neglect. This reflects the department's vision of building a safe and supportive community for children. She pointed out that the "I Have a Voice" initiative is one of the specialised programs that contributes to instilling the values of justice, equality, and dignity in children while fostering an ideal environment that guarantees their rights and supports their future aspirations. Focus on children's fundamental rights The program covers a series of core topics that focus on children's fundamental rights. These include the right to a dignified life and government support to meet their basic needs, as well as the right to justice, healthcare, and education to promote equality and ensure equal opportunities. It also addresses protection from abuse and exploitation, the promotion of community safety for children, and the right to express opinions and participate socially key factors in ensuring that children feel empowered and integrated. In addition, it offers special care for children with disabilities tailored to their unique needs and requirements. The event, held under the patronage of Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University, features a robust programme that includes a graduate research exhibition supported by the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR). This year's forum delves into a wide array of clinical dentistry topics, ranging from oral surgery and digital dentistry to prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and professional ethics. A particular highlight is the exploration of current trends and future frontiers in artificial intelligence applications within dental practice, underscoring the field's rapid evolution. In his opening remarks, Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical and Health Sciences Colleges and Dean of the College of Medicine, discussed the forum's role as a dynamic platform for interaction and collaboration among students, faculty, and alumni. Al Marzouqi prepares for Show Jumping World Cup with Eu Camp

Qualification for the World Cup finals Al Marzouqi qualified for the World Cup Show Jumping Finals after earning 69 points as part of the seventh regional group of the International Equestrian Federation. This achievement follows his participation in the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games, marking another milestone in his equestrian career. Notable achievements and support Al Marzouqi's recent successes include receiving the Longines Award for Best Rising Star in the World 2024, making him the first Emirati and Arab to win the honor. He also placed 19th out of 75 riders at the Paris 2024 Olympics and claimed first place at the 2024 Stallion Show Jumping Championship in Belgium. Strong domestic competition Al Marzouqi participated in several competitive qualifying rounds in the UAE, including the Al Ain International Championship and Al Shiraa International Championship, where he aimed to collect points for the World Cup qualification. Success with "Enjoy de l'Ameur" Al Marzouqi attributes much of his success to his horse, "Enjoy de l'Ameur," which has performed exceptionally well in both local and international competitions. The horse's capabilities have helped him secure top positions in many prestigious events. European training camp Al Marzouqi's European camp, under the guidance of coach William Vanel and his father, will include a series of gradual training stages. France has been chosen as the host country for this preparatory camp, designed to fine-tune Al Marzouqi's skills ahead of the World Cup Show Jumping Finals.
